    Pros

Work/life Balance is great. Everyone has left the office by 5 PM. You will rarely work over 40 hours in a week.

    Cons

Bloomington's Location. This has improved with the addition of the HUB locations in Phoenix, Dallas, and Atlanta. However, based on your job you may be restricted in your location to cooperate headquarters in Bloomington.

    Advice to Management

Do more to attract and retain young talent. When I interned there was probably a total of 200 interns from all of the country. I would say less than 10% actually accepted full time jobs.

    Pros

This is a strong name brand that people know and trust so that makes it easier to introduce yourself and sale policies.

    Cons

The new agents are advised to pay a very low base and have high quota limits even for first time insurance sales staff. I could have a higher paying position working at ikea.

    Advice to Management

Look at the insurance experience of your staff. It's difficult to sale as a new comer on a seasoned veterans level. It takes time to grow.

I have been working at State Farm full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Steady full time work. Job security as insurance is required. Weekends always off, as well as evenings. Get a better understanding of how your own insurance works. Build relationships with your clients, as you get to know them over time. Able to explain how clients coverage works and help them make educated choices. Helping people.

    Cons

Very demanding for the pay. Stressful to satisfy all clients. No retirement benefits. No discount on insurance. Lack of understanding on clients, agent and managements part as to how demanding job is.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the people that are not only paying to stay licensed so they can work for you, but are also your front line with your clients. It would be more fair to the staff if each agency had to comply with some standard benefits, and if there was something to make you want to stay like some retirement. I have been doing this for 16 years, and get a lot of very positive feedback from our clients, you build up a rapport with them and their families. This is good for State Farm, but I don't think most of the management has any idea how stressful this job is.

    Pros

Reasonable schedule, reasonable workload. Reputable company that by and large takes care of its policyholders.

    Cons

At the agency level, absolutely zero benefits. Minimal room for growth (unless you want to become an agent, and the 05 contract is terrible).

    Advice to Management

I have no advice for management.
