    Pros

They were really flexible with my the days and hours I could work and the people were very nice.

    Cons

The people were great but the internship was lacking. When I was told about the position I was under the impression that there would be selling involved with the internship and "real world" experience. I did not do anything except set up appointments and sit in the back of the office doing nothing.

    Advice to Management

Develop a real internship and give the intern more to do than just making appointments….

I have been working at State Farm as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

State Farm treats their workers very well. The agent I worked for was very demanding but still very understanding. The office operated very well and everyone got along.

    Cons

As with all insurance, there are many unsatisfied customers that are angry when they call.

    Advice to Management

Give each agency more freedom rather than strict corporate rules.

    Pros

Provides a lot of training, super friendly staff, variety of projects to get different experiences

    Cons

Can get boring since it is insurance, but the company cares a lot about developing you.

    Advice to Management

It can get annoying being an intern at innovation ready and knowing that it would take a significant amount of time to get our idea through with the many barriers a company as large as State Farm has.

    Pros

Great team work. Got the flexibility to do what I am interested in.

    Cons

Do not have enough full-time staff to help supervise and mentor student interns.

    Advice to Management

Have more full-time staff to help supervise and mentor student interns.

    Pros

Gained experience and exposure to what the insurance business was all about. Had a great team and enjoyed going to work for the most part. Some good skills to add to your resume.

    Cons

Team members aren't always perfect at agencies. Low pay as an intern. Felt somewhat dead end if you don't want to go the agent route or move to Bloomington.

    Advice to Management

Pay team members more, other than that you do a fantastic job. I don't know a lot about the management culture at corporate.

    Pros

    Competitive intern salaries
    Flexible hours for RDC positions
    Focused on developing talent

    Cons

    Not hiring directly from RDC
    Lots of bureaucracy

    Advice to Management

The flexibility and focus on growth comes off as very supportive, and is a huge reason to stick around after graduation
