I worked at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

People are incredibly willing to help you and answer your questions. I was an intern there and was able to reach out to people from all over and from all levels of the company. They are willing to let you learn new things. I am an English major but was given the opportunity to make a web page for the internal site

    Cons

My second summer interning at State Farm wasn't as great because I was not given meaningful projects to work on.

I have been working at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very nice people, decent hours (9am to 4 or 5pm), I am able to work on what I want to work on throughout the day with the help of any of the office staff when I need them.

    Cons

Lower hourly rate than what I would like, office staff is not getting commission for any of their sales, the agent gets all of it which I think is not very fair (but it does not really affect me, I just feel bad for the ladies putting in all the work)

    Advice to Management

Encourage agents to commission their staff.

I have been working at State Farm part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment and a lot of good friends. Pay was decent for no experience. They take care of you.

    Cons

Not much direction from the team. You are pretty much assigned a problem and they don't really mentor you through the process of writing production level code. A lot of the work doesn't actually see the light of day.

    Advice to Management

Make your intern's work have an impact.

I have been working at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Other employees worked with were great and very helpful. Treated like a normal employee. Given very realistic preview of the normal office routine. Great support.

    Cons

Not many. Kind of slow at times but that is to be expected. If your interested in a summer internship program, State Farm is a great place to look.

    Advice to Management

Continue the program to keep younger employees with a lot of talent looking at the company for a career.

I worked at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The internship program in 2009 for college undergraduates was an amazing learning experience, I was a marketing intern in the SF Bay Area. They paid for our company cards, travel to the internship competition and opportunity to present for corporate. Great experience learning about marketing strategy and how interact with executives! Heavy recruiting for entry-level positions.

    Cons

Entry-level positions were only in claims roles that were not well paid or suited to any other interests.

    Pros

-Paid internship at the operations center, great experience -open networking with the employers -sat in on real training sessions for real employees

    Cons

I worked at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly people, very nice place to work at. The agents there were all kind to me, and answered my questions whenever I had one about their job.

    Cons

Ended up doing menial tasks for most of the time, though this was more on my fault anyone else's. Could've taken initiative more to take on more and more difficult tasks.

    Advice to Management

Really work with interns more and try to challenge them. If they don't meet your expectations, then give them something easier, but most interns should have strong abilities to achieve more than what you originally thing.
