I worked at State Street full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

People are great, lots of opportunity to expand knowledge and to advance up/around the organization. Opportunities to work from home or in one of the other offices located in the area when needed. Training is available via online courses, webinars, onsite.

    Cons

Expect to work a lot - nights/weekends. Senior management disconnected from the front line issues. Organization too large and bureaucratic to adapt to changes or effectively address issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on creating a vision of where the organization is going and effectively communicate it at all levels so that everyone knows and buys into the process. Find a way to infuse energy into the company and excitement about what you are doing and where you are going.

I have been working at State Street full-time

    Pros

State Street is a large company with plenty of opportunity for internal mobility including working in different locations in the US and abroad. Generally speaking the people are good to work with. The benefits package and paid time off is good as well

    Cons

Like most financial service companies, State Street outsources a good amount of work on both the operations and IT side. This can lead to challenges in getting things done quickly and efficiently unless you adapt.

I have been working at State Street as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

I like how my schdule never changes. Work hard during the week and have weekends off. The workload for everyday is different. Some requests that come in I am not familiar with but I have great supporting team around me to help solve the discrepancies. The office environment is very diverse. People are really polite and respectful mostly.

    Cons

Sometimes the day can seem long. Some people working the food stations in the cafeteria on the second floor can act moody towards the actual state street workers.
