Pros – Don't know them anymore. Not the same company they used to be since they started acquiring all these companies and started changing.
Cons – worked there over 10 years. Was laid off - and told its not my performance. Then lay off people who have a poor performance.
Advice to Senior Management – Learn to keep the people that got you there and stop buying so many companies which then forces you to let people gol

Pros – Not NYC based. Somewhat relaxed attitude
Cons – Lower tier and not investing what it takes to be successful
Advice to Senior Management – Better pay = better people

Pros – Experienced senior bankers from bulge bracket banks
Cons – Lowest salary and bonus as compared to all the competition (other mid-markets investment banks)

Pros – Home office offers exceptional support to the local branches
Cons – Local management is unsatisfactory. Does not allow a positive culture and little room for growth opportunities or acceptable yearly compensation.
Advice to Senior Management – Operational and registered assistant's compensation should be paid fairly. Brokers should offer more incentives for assistant's hard work.

Cons – Lack of communication, Lack of training, No real direction for improvement.
Advice to Senior Management – Give More training, communicate more.

Former Employee – worked at Stifel, Nicolaus & Co.
Pros – Work was interesting at first
Cons – Lack of information sharing. Supervisors stretched too thin. Company attempting to grow through acquisition, which might lead to collapse. No training whatsoever
Advice to Senior Management – Slow down acquisitions. Focus on organic growth and employee development. Your operations people need to be paid more. The job I left stifel for was a 20 grand increase in salary.

Pros – supportive co-workers; helpful, knowledgeable support staff; personal accountability throughout the firm; firm has clean regulatory record; small size of firm (relative to industry peers) translates to direct access to management and executive - level decision makers
Cons – pay is substantially below industry standards; limited opportunities for advancement; lack of structured professional development program(s); "boys' club" culture/atmosphere; inconsistent management on a regional level; noticeable lack of women in management positions
Advice to Senior Management – develop structured program to assist current employees demonstrating aptitude and interest in career advancement; improve education funding/tuition reimbursement program; develop professional mentor program; review current compensation plan to more accurately reflect widely implemented industry standards
