I have been working at Stop & Shop

    Pros

This is a good job for students, flexible hours and most associates are fairly young.

    Cons

Not much room for advancement, takes years to become a full-time employee and you must be willing to be transferred to any store within a 50 mile radius while receiving minimal pay. Management is a bit over the top in how it pushes certain promotions, hours have been cut across the board and all stores are very lightly staffed, so when your working its pretty rough.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more front end employees, having 2 registers running the front at 5pm is a travesty.

I have been working at Stop & Shop

    Pros

union job, 25 cent raise after first month, 15 cent every 6 months, associates discount, good job if you just need some extra cash. wouldn't consider this for long term.

    Cons

hard to get full-time,little pay/ appreciation for what they expect you to do, managers don't talk amongst themselves, lack of team work, not enough man power for work load, barely any health benefits, won't get many hours unless you are constantly bugging a manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to your employees!!! 90 percent of issues could be avoided or turned around by simply accepting feedback from the people actually doing the work not from outsiders. who can tell you better about doing the job then the people who do it day in and day out?

I have been working at Stop & Shop

    Pros

The hours are long and repetitive the union blows but for a part time gig its not bad

    Cons

The union protect the slugs who don't do anything as a part timer you are expected to do your work plus the work of the full timers cause they don't do anything but complain about how the part timers suck

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the union and hire more help to give better customer service that you currently are giving to the consumer
