    Pros

I was lucky in that most of the management at my location was good to me in that they allowed me to have a flexible work schedule. As long as you actually do some work and don't mess around all day you will have nothing to worry about.

    Cons

Low pay. After being there multiple years, part-time employees will still get very little compensation. Upper management doesn't seem in tune with regular everyday employees.

    Advice to Management

Look back to the days when you were in high school or college and needed a job to get by. Don't expect employees to be work horses for a small salary. Treat your employees well and they will repay you.

    Pros

Easy work, easy to get along with people in the deli. You just have to slice meat all day. Also more money than cashiers.

    Cons

Potentially slicing your finger open is a con, but you get paid more for it. Also, you stink after work.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing, although deli could use higher wages. Wage disparity from older coworkers in the business can be annoying.

    Pros

Ok job, Convenient. 5% off of all purchases. Decent store

    Cons

For a first job starting off in a union kind of sucks because you have to pay an initial union fee and they take a small fee of $7.50 a week from your paycheck but you don't have paid sick days until you get full-time or move from the froth end to a different department. Even though you work year round when the college kids come back for their summer break they hire them back and your hours might get cut back.

    Advice to Management

Respect the people that work for you.

    Pros

Union benefits were good, work was simple and fair. Responsibilities were straight forward. A lot of locations if a transfer to a closer store to home was desired.

    Cons

Pay wasn't great, less than Whole foods. Upward mobility from cashier seemed hard and appeared to be a long process. Often get asked to stay later than scheduled shift.

    Advice to Management

Stay in the front end of the store longer and more, as often searching for a manger wastes a lot of time, both for the employee and customer, thus creating longer lines and more frustrated customers.
