Former Employee – worked at Subway part-time for less than a year
Pros – My manager was flexible and gave me lots of hours, even just starting out. Also, the environment was not as fast-paced and sweaty as other fast-food establishments. I kept moving, but I never got out of breath or exhausted--I think the store is set up so you don't have to go rushing around all the time. At other fast food restaurants, I've found myself constantly rushing from dining room to kitchen to service counter.
Cons – cutting the bread right is really hard. I never got the hang of it, and I don't consider myself dumb! Also, you smell really bad when you get off work--like onions, mustard and yeast--and the smell never gets out of your skin or hair, much less your work uniform. The only unpleasant task at work was cutting onions. The onions were way too strong and you had to keep leaving the kitchen to rinse your eyes out with water and wipe the tears away.
Advice to Senior Management – Find a way to have employees cut onions efficiently without tear-gassing themselves. And ventilate the store better so the smell is not so overpowering.

Current Employee – been working at Subway full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Chance to move forward, chance to gain skills, flexible with hours, pretty easy. weekends are slow
Cons – Can only move up to Assistant Manager position, corporate jobs are hard to get, don't care about their employees very much, get wrote up even for being sick, drama- enough said, rude customers, low pay and no benefits- they cut my vacation hours after working there for 3 years, they honestly don't care about their employees
Advice to Senior Management – Get to know what is going on in your stores, if the upper level management or corporate knew what goes on they would be shocked
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Subway part-time
Pros – Food discount, precise work breakdown
Cons – Low pay, they expect you to be busy no matter what
Advice to Senior Management – You should onboard employees better. You have a great online system, but when it comes to on-the-job training, you need to provide more detail. Tell new employees their benefits and exactly how you are going to teach them the ropes, and give an approximate timeline on how you are going to do it.

Current Employee – been working at Subway part-time for more than 3 years
Pros – The people I worked with cool. Open a lot which provides awesome work or a college student.
Cons – Terrible training. Sometimes it can be very stressful work depending on how busy the store is. The pay is min wage but can improve if you take subway university classes
Advice to Senior Management – Please just read a single book about management. I'm a sophomore in business school and know more than the high execs do about treating employees. If subway would treat there employees correctly i'm sure turnover would decrease and productivity would skyrocket

Former Employee – worked at Subway part-time for less than a year
Pros – Easy to learn the ropes, the co-workers were all nice and pleasant to work with, and getting a sub each day was nice
Cons – The managers in charge weren't getting along with each other. They had conflicting methods, and whenever they were together there were usually intense arguments
Advice to Senior Management – Try to get along, at least when around others... it helps keep the morale up

Former Employee – worked at Subway part-time for more than a year
Pros – You are provided with an environment in which you learn how to deal with customers and plan your work activities based on customer volume which teaches you interpersonal and time management skills. I would recommend everyone work at a fast-food place at least once in their life.
Cons – The majority of customers are jerks and your coworkers tend to not be the best people to have to work with. This is true for most fast-food places I feel.
Advice to Senior Management – Always make sure to train your employees in every aspect of their job. From my experience, when something isn't done right it is due to a lack of knowledge.
