I worked at Subway (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great first job and sure beat having to work with fried food

    Cons

Besides the owners not being fun to work with I can't really complain here

  2. Multi unit manager

I have been working at Subway

    Pros

The only pro I can ever think of is free food.

    Cons

You work 80 hour work weeks for meager pay, 1600 before taxes, this is by far the worst career possible!

    Advice to Management

Review your franchisee payroll to see if it is conducive to performance.

    Pros

The best reason is to interact with customers and have something to do everyday and practice making a sandwich

    Cons

They don't train you they just throw you out to making sandwiches and expect you to know what your doing

    Pros

Free six inch after working a certain amount of hours was nice.

They didn't care how much time I wanted off. I could probably take a week off every month and no one would ask me to change.

It's easy to get a job there.

Overall company seems to mean well, but each Subway could be totally different.

    Cons

I worked there for a year and saw at least 10 people get fired (it could have been twenty, some I never even met.) Were 10 people too stupid to work at Subway, or did Subway lack any proper training?

We were asked to put our own money into the till when it came up short on more than once occasion.

Managers didn't rinse any veggies before prepping. That tomato that fell on the floor? No, it wasn't washed before being cut up and eventually put in your sandwich.

We weren't scheduled as on call, but were still treated negatively when we didn't come in for a shift when someone called out.

    10 minute breaks? What's that?

Promotion? Here, take ten cents more an hour for working off the clock every day!

Everyone was accused of stealing a couple times due to obvious miscounts by managers. Come on, no one stole a whole sleeve of pretzels.

Every review was negative. No one here does a good job, apparently.

They would hire people with no phones and no cars, and then get mad at them for not having transportation or being able to be on call.

I'm so glad I am no longer at Subway.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to who you hire as store managers. If they aren't watched closely, all of the cons I mentioned can happen. Don't be afraid to fire managers.

    Pros

Good hours if you are on the bosses good side. Were not allowed to take 30 minute lunches so you are paid for your full shift. I am not saying every subway is like this. I am only speaking for the subway i worked at for 3 years.

    Cons

Bosses did not follow the law, give us breaks or over time. They paid certain employees under the table and over-worked us with very few crew members during busy times. No room for growth here.

    Pros

    Free Subs and flexible schedule

    Cons

Too many set rules for the number of condiments on sandwich. Customers complain for not putting enough and management fire you for putting "too much". more than 6 olives on a sandwich can get you kicked out, even at the customers asking.

    Advice to Management

Either give the customers what they want or let the customers know the policy,

Give new trainees a chance before you firing them off for not meeting first day trainees, expecially when it's their first job
