    Pros

    Free subs
    Nothing else, this jobs sucks.

    Cons

    Low pay
    Terrible environment
    Having to ask for pay
    Inconsistent pay

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't take advantage of your employees and actually pay them on time. You don't run a business by withholding pay and taking advantage.

I worked at Subway part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Free food after working a certain amount of hours.
    Manager was sweet.

    Cons

Other employees took advantage of my because I was new.
People didn't follow proper food prepping procedures.
Employees rude and they didn't listen to them manager.
So many problems that they didn't pass inspection(but they were given a second chance and the manager told the employees what they needed to do and they didn't, plus she said if they take off point on their next inspection she would quit)
Ran out of product/ didn't store it properly
Scheduling was horrid, they would call me at 12:30pm asking if I could come in at 12:00pm
The place was just filthy and nasty
I can never eat at a Subway after working there. (I tried to once and threw my sandwich away)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Make scheduling online.
Probably invest in a dishwasher because the dishes are so nasty some employees wont clean them.
Have better cleaning equipment (especially for the bathrooms)
Make sure all bathrooms have standards.
Have a place for employees to put away there stuff.
Make incentives that help employees better themselves and have a good clean working environment.
I hated it so much I quit (after a month) because I knew it wasn't working for me. (I believe they close that particular store down)
Also one of my friends told me her current co-worker had the same problem with subway.

I have been working at Subway full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are no good reasons to work here, unless you like being paid poorly to do the work of a manager.

    Cons

It is the definition of a dead end job. You get paid $7.25 when you start, and raises are rare. I've been working there for 3 years and am the assistant manager, and I make $7.75. Its stressful and they treat you like a doctor who is always on call.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees better. Don't expect them to cover everyone else's shift.

    Consistently short checks.
Terrible pay- was hired by a different store to do the same job I had done for a year, and was paid less despite a year of expereince

I worked at Subway full-time for less than a year

    Pros

None, really. I had such an awful experience working for this franchise. Totally unprofessional from the top down. Demeaning and degrading experience.

    Cons

10 minute break for 10 hours worked, not allowed to go outside on your pathetic "break"
. The day I started, the entire staff had walked out the day before.I soon discovered why and joined them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. The company needs to investigate who they give franchises to.

Current Employee - General Manager in Hamilton, OH

I have been working at Subway full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There really weren't any, I drove to Hamilton, OH from Newport, KY and the nearest store to me was over an hour away if I needed something...My DM was a nightmare, Upper management was useless, the pay was a joke...Just a really bad experience overall.

    Cons

The pay was garbage, your employees brought home more than you did on the hour. There were absolutely NO health benefits or 401k. The district manager I worked for was very rude and used me as a scape goat for everything she told me to do that was wrong...She wouldn't sign write ups, she wouldn't allow me to hold my employees accountable for their actions. The work place was a very hostile environment due to her lack of accountability for her own actions and the tactlessness that she exuded towards her employees. Oh and they kept me from receiving bonus, by keeping me in the system as an unassigned trainee, even though I was assigned and no longer a trainee and I was already training new managers. There were many functions to my job that they wouldn't give me access to as well, which would have made it easier for me to do my job and keep up with the employees actions when I wasn't there, instead of relying on what someone else saw on video and having to explain it when presenting a write up. The whole job was just crap. It wasn't hard but the company "Vision Investment Group llc.) that franchised the store was a terribly run company. They cared more about expanding the company (more stores) than properly training and maintaining the ones they already had. We were out of so many supplies and when I would ask to order them I would be told we were on a spending freeze. Of course, as soon as I quit, the DM showed up to the store with everything I had been requesting for months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your management team with respect and confidence in their ability to do their job. You hired them to do it, so let them do just that, their job. Also, when you make a mistake, don't pawn it off as someone else's, own up to it.

I have been working at Subway full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Talking to the best coworker. Getting people out of the store so we can act human again! Free food when the prices go up. Will work schedule around school and days off.

    Cons

Manager doesn't see the problems. Lazy coworkers make job hard for everyone else. They don't open their eyes. Customers are not smart. I have a formula to follow and they don't understand this. Cleaning is a hassle if no one does a little on their part. Some weeks you get one day off, others two days. Schedule is never consistent and neither are the hours. You will smell horrid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the problem people and hire some good, hard workers. Care more for your employees who work hard.

I worked at Subway full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Small kitchen/front space to traverse those eight hour shifts without a break. Free beverages at work. Not bothered with the hassles of training or anything like that. /s

    Cons

Dialed phone and laminated paper shoved in my face first fifteen minutes of first day on job. Man wanting vital details of my life "so that company could get tax credit with my hire if approved". Since I wasn't on assistance I wasn't a viable hire which was too bad as it was a very clean kitchen (since had maybe two hours of customers a day) I found that to be a bit freaky and was glad to be "let go" but had to suffer from verbal abuse by the manager first.

I have been working at Subway full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Free food, nice customers. Making sandwiches was fun, the best thing about the job.

    Cons

No training at all. Rude/unqualified managers. Too much work for too little pay.

Sandwich making is like only 5% of the job, the rest is cleaning and cleaning and cleaning. The manager did not train me at all, and just told me to watch and then expects me to have learned everything. I got told to go clean instead of make sandwiches for customers so I can get better at it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Choose managers well, and make the training better. The manager I had swore a lot, and yelled at employees in front of customers.
