    Pros

I can't think of any. The entire time was a mess, from day one no one provides any direction even to the small things like office space and computer.

    Cons

This is a horrible place to work. They're extremely disorganized, unprofessional and lacking knowledge. They have an extremely high turnover rate because they mislead the potential hires about the company. Complete waste of time, save yourself and walk away.

    Advice to Management

The management team in every department, especially brokerage, are a disaster. They don't understand the business and their lack of knowledge has a direct effect on employee success. Hire new management.

I worked at SunGard full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Annual sales conference in the US

    Cons

Rubbish IT, aggressive selling techniques, bullying management in the US, no meaningful client relationships. Only targets were to hit the phone 100 times a day. No wonder they are losing business

    Advice to Management

Change your philosophy. Nobody wants to deal with a company who treat their staff and customers with contempt

    Pros

Software provider with a global presence Major clients with high bill rates Growing

    Cons

Lack of solid processes inline with industry standards Latest and greatest technology tools aren't in use 20 year old technology Hires a lot of interns with no knowledge of industry

    Advice to Management

Primary focus should be on providing high quality software solution. There seems to be a focus on the financial side with little attention paid to the technology side of the products. Invest in a level of quality standards program. IEEE may be a good start.

    I worked at SunGard full-time

    Pros

Worked with some great people, benefits are OK.

    Cons

Constant over time, unrealistic deadlines. Upper management is either too cheap to hire enough people to do the work or just don't care about the staff. Management only values people who are in the office for long hours, regardless of whether they are working or not.

    Advice to Management

Take a walk around the office and get to know the people who work for you. Ask them about their experience at SunGard and work life balance. There is more to life than working 24/7

    Pros

SunGard is considered a Retirement company. a place where you goto if you don't want to do any work, take hefty bonuses as a mid manager and above and retire.

    Cons

Its not google. Its a company dominated by Unqualified Top Execs who run a bureacracy. They unleash personal vice and vendetta agenda through the bell curve. each of their products is a defunct legacy. 90% of the employees including the executives are incompetent and arrogant. There is no engineering discipline or practices in the company, so if you are expecting to learn anything, contribute or be rewarded for your work, you are in the wrong place. don't expect any work day to be intellectually rewarding or stimulating in any way. also understand this is "not" a software engineering or technology company. except for the head quarters everyother office is either a sales location or a bodyshop. the company has no future, no growth prospects, and when the company doesn't grow neither do you. the firm has reached end of life. nobody wants to buy its products or services and all those who have in the past are desperate to get out. for the last 5 years the company is in a hard cost cutting mode and they even lockup the coffee machine half of the time to reduce coffee consumption, just so that they can maintain the bottomline and make an exit. in the last decade the top line has gone from $9 billion to $2billion. that says everything. the company struggles to release software in 1.5 year release cycles. and it prides itself in agile. they use WinForms ASP and Struts and pride themselves as Technologists. the sales team puts 15000 dollars worth of one time server setup fees to clients and calls their managed server offering "cloud" there are no global opportunities to travel the world for example europe and asia or the other way around. the most incompetent people have skyrocketed to VP positions. in a company with 10000 odd employees 1000 are directors and vp's the company was formed from 100 odd acquisitions and hence has 100 odd religions and religious wars all around you. there is no culture or ethics, its a free for all

    Advice to Management

    "You" "are" "the" "problem"

    Cons

I have been working at SunGard full-time

    Pros

Lots of work to do if you like to gain experience. Make sure you do not get yourself locked into onerous contract and you'll be fine to leave after a few years.

    Cons

The annual layoff has begun. People are being let go and workload is dumped on those who remained. Technology company with old products (20+ years old) with minimal R&D for past 4-5 years. Technology competency has dropped to the point that C-Level people admitted that it is easier to buy a new product than build it. Management, from top down to middle, has no regards of people who worked for them. In their eyes, resource are expected walk when told, fart when told and controlled with onerous contract clause. Lame attempts by senior management to white wash failure of management. This year the theme is to blame employee for not being engaged. Rounds of employee engagement initiative were brought out of dustbin, re-branded and preached as gospel. Career opportunities are plenty, except the added responsibilities is not matched with added salary. Attempts to negotiate salary is brushed off, labelled as disloyal, ignored or threatened.

    Advice to Management

    Treat the people with respect.

I worked at SunGard full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

No accountability. No punishment for making mistakes, not even a slap on the wrist. Stupid management but no micromanagement. Lots of bonus pay, if you don't mind hanging around on stupid troubleshooting calls and build hours of OT.

    Cons

Crappy applications and systems. Incompetent developers and IT support teams.

    Advice to Management

Don't quit your comfy positions, no body will hire your stale no good talents. And keep protecting your do nothing crowd lazy azs buddies too.
