    Pros

Upper Mgmt has improved, plenty of work

    Cons

Health care costs, low to no annual increases, too high of offshore employee mix, no real career path for QA and Programmers, only concerned about the bottom line, consistently layoff employees year after year just to meet numbers

    Advice to Management

Take care of ALL your hard working employees financially & keep jobs in America!

    Pros

Generally strong people that are easy to work with
    Good location (near 88 & 355)
    Company product is well-positioned

    Cons

Serves banking and investment companies whose IT budgets are shrinking even as their profits remain healthy.
Uncertainty: Business units within Financial Systems likely to be spun off or sold

    Advice to Management

To senior management: Talking about building a great place to work isn't really buying you anything; since most people are used to talk and don't expect meaningful action.

    Pros

Working at SunGaurd was a pleasant experience. There was friendly atmosphere amongst all of the different departments and the managers were patient and encouraging.

    Cons

It wasn't the most career centric place. It didn't seem like there was a lot of room to grow or to move into a different role.

    Pros

    Wonderful people to work with.

    Cons

Adequate raises and bonuses are only given at the management level.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the staff who are non-management. Family life, benefits and salary are not adequate to keep good employees around once the exonomy picks up.

    Pros

Work environment is pretty good, nice offfices, co-workers friendly and largely cooperative, Most of the time the work/projects are interesting and challenging. Little to no pressure. Good work/life balance. Pay is okay.

Company does a really good job with health fairs and other health improvement activities. Free blood screenings, flu shots, smoking cessation programs are very good.

In spite of the negative "cons", I would recommend the company. Overall it is "okay", but do not expect to work in a dynamic, evolving environment. People who do well here are those who are satisfied with the status quo and do not want to be challenged. Motivated and talented people tend to move on to other companies.

    Cons

Staff that has been around for over 15 years is professionally lazy. Surprisingly, business unit management is also very lazy and set in their ways.

Little to no, procedures and standards in place, poor system design, and very sloppy and careless programming is the norm. Major implementations of software and hardware had no testing.

Tremendous resistance to change from employees as well as management. Proposed changes to improve operations/programming is fought rigorously by staff as well as management.

Annual reviews and procedures are pointless and waste a lot of time.

No training/cross training, no advancement opportunities.

Annual employee anonymous feedback processes have not yielded any change or improvements in the organization.

There is an overall culture of mediocrity that is accepted.

    Advice to Management

Group level management needs to be more involved in local business unit. In many instances house cleanings are necessary. There are a lot of very smart and talented people working on staff that are routinely censored.

    Pros

Very nice office and pleasant people to work with. Senior staff spend time mentoring new hires in the business.

    Cons

Company makes up for revenues in cost savings too often. Management somewhat set in their ways and could be more open to new ideas and tools.

    Advice to Management

Increase sales to get more revenue. Provide more technical training to the sales staff.
