In many ways it is a great place, but...

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsSGAS pays fairly well, has a decent benefits structure, paid vacation etc. Many of my coworkers are very talented and hard working. I am never bored.

ConsI am always frustrated. Leadership is non-visionary and micro-managing. Many departments care more about protecting turf than serving a customer or meeting a goal. It is common to work holidays, weekends and on vacation.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmpowerment. You have talented people working here. You pay well enough to attract good people, let them do their jobs.

Great Place if you are Dumb

Senior Business Analyst (Current Employee) Wayne, PA

ProsI worked for IT team and they are allergic to smart people.Their ERP system was build 15 years back and people want to keep them engaged in fixing the issues.

ConsGreat place if you turn off your brain and say 'Yes' to everything. The biggest challenge in this company is the non-competent, non-technical directors who will not get any job if they quit Sungard AS. This company is not ready for change so I expect them to fail/sold in next 2-3 years

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease hire smart leadership

Unethical senior management at the Philadelphia location

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Philadelphia, PA

ProsThere's an opportunity for exposure to a broad variety of technology. If you align yourself with the "right" people you can have a long career there.

ConsI was exposed to numerous examples of unprofessionalism while there. Sr management is good at getting things done unfortunately sometimes their methods are questionable. Very autocratic culture lacking in people skills.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe current Sr Management in Philadelphia needs to understand the role and importance of having "people" skills. Anyone can manage through intimidation. Too many good managers, with the required skills and temperament, have been let go. They need to develop the proper balance between technical skills and social skills.

    Sales

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsPeople. The sales teams and operations teams truly want to provide the right solution to the customers. They have a can do attitude.

ConsUpper management not accessible. Manage with the stick. Company continues to cut staff and not invest in future product development.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your people. Allow open communications, not just what you want to hear. Don't just worry about your exit strategy. Use to have a terrific culture.

    Dishonest and Inexperienced Management

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsIf you are a white young straight man with a little bit of light technical experience at another commercial data center, certainly you will be promoted quickly -- and well beyond your capabilities -- into a managerial role...where you will fit right in by being completely ineffectual and totally unaccountable.

ConsThe firm is going to the knacker's yard, so do not bother even if you are desperate. Read the business press.

Advice to Senior ManagementCrabs in a bucket much?

Steadily going down hill over the past seven years.

Customer Sales Support Representative (Current Employee)

ProsMany still believe in what the company provides to customers. Still have solutions for what customers need. Flexibility for work life balances.

ConsLack of communication from the LT down to the average employee. In fighting between departments.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop cutting the workers and invest in them instead. Thin out the extra management layers in the Leadership Team. Hold management accountable.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
