    Organization is okay but....

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsOverall, the company has great values (ie-patient care is #1) and there are a lot of dedicated and hardworking people that belong to this organization.

ConsCompensation is okay but could be a lot better. Not sure if all the dedication and hard work is acknowledge/recognized. A lot of great workers are lost to other companies because the salaries don't seem to be competitive/market value.

Advice to Senior ManagementValue your strong employees and compensate them for their worth and the retention of these valuable employees may increase. A lot of money is wasted on hiring consultants and contractors (although they bring a wealth of knowledge) and seems to cost the company too much.

    Be Careful

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat benefits and if you are with the right group can be a rewarding experience. Work is challenging , but not overwhelming.

ConsSome departments within the organization can a political game and if your not careful and CYA you could find yourself on the outside looking in.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would advise senior management to take a long look into their mid managements practices and how they treat their subordinates.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great learning opportunity for entry level and managers

Department Assistant (Current Employee) Sacramento, CA

ProsAbility to move up and "career search" throughout company. There are more opportunities with this company to move around and get a feel for what you want to do long term.

ConsThis company is lacking in technological advancement, and workplace diversity.

Advice to Senior ManagementDiversity training and awareness, leadership training opportunities should be implemented.

Not worth leaving previous position for failed promise

EHR Service Desk Analyst (Former Employee) Rancho Cordova, CA

ProsPay was excellent, safe workplace. great facilities.

Consthey did not honor promise to train nor allow me to complete 6 month contract as promised.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive feedback and train rather than avoiding eye contact and terminating contracts over the phone.

    IT Support

IT Support (Former Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsPriorities are straight, patients come first.
They don't expect you to do more than you can do and give you enough time to get your work done.
All in all, great group of dedicated people.

ConsI have never worked anywhere else that required everyone to be a spreadsheet specialist. They live and breathe spreadsheets.
Management is tied up in meetings all morning at the least and is often unapproachable.

Advice to Senior ManagementMeetings have taken a life of their own far over and above their usefullness.

    Good company, bad management

Project Manager II (Former Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsPeople are generally friendly, benefits are good.

ConsAll PM's are contractors who don't live in the state so are basically there to collect a paycheck which makes for a very in personable environment.

Great company but uneven pay practices

    Professional (Current Employee) Sacramento, CA

    ProsGreat vision for the future
    Passionate people
    Strong patient focus

ConsSalary ranges very uneven. New employees with less experience paid more than high performing staff with 15+ years of experience due to stagnant increases over the last few years for internals. You would be better off quitting for a few months and getting rehired at your true value.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider hiring more staff to help achieve the work life balance you talk about. 10-11 hour days due to more work with less people make it hard to take days off. Even though the time off is generous it is hard to use without burdening coworkers. Consider moving high performers up in the salary range to be competitive with new hires. Reward loyalty and those that stay.

IT at Sutter Health - Sacramento Region

Applications Analyst (Current Employee) Sacramento, CA

ProsHigh-quality people at non-management levels; personable/compassionate management team; great tools, excellent project/process methodology

ConsMuddled leadership messages; questionable prioritization, lack of awareness of conflicting strategies for individual projects, Minimum 25% daily administrative overhead for virtually all levels of employees. Non-exempts handcuffed to web-based "Kronos" timeclock system, with penalties for excessive corrections (called "exceptions") when late or missing clock-in/out. Ridiculous restrictions for company-issued cellular devices, preventing real-time support to customers and projects.

Advice to Senior ManagementAddress the impact of Kronos on non-exempts. Remove he handcuffs on using iPhones for supporting customers and projects regardless of location or time-of-day.

Sutter Health is a decent company to work for.

Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) Sacramento, CA

ProsFlexibility in scheduling. Some very good people working there. Emphasis on continuing education.

ConsLots of politics. Those not in a position of management are not treating with respect at times.

Advice to Senior ManagementRemember that everyone's role is important. A lot less patting on the back of the administration and more on the employees would be well received.

Decent Place to work, minus the politics

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Sacramento, CA

ProsGreat benefits, Free healthcare for family and decent
PTO although all holidays are also drawn from your PTO bank.
Flexible hours depending on what affiliate you work for

ConsThe office politics are a nightmare. In order for a decision to be made, you have to attend multiple meetings, get sign off from everyone and their mom, and then wait in the dark for someone to make a decision.
A lot of dead weight under qualified people doing a job they have no business doing.
Management gets way more incentives than the regular employee like annual bonuses
A lot of people jumping ship after a poor implementation of their new EMR Epic.

Advice to Senior ManagementHave your employees back, and decisions get pushed through faster.
If you work in a non direct patient care job, have more paid holidays.
Calm down on all the bs you make your employees do beside their jobs.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
