Pros – I love working with people. I feel we serve the public with a nice atmosphere to grocery shop in. Our stores are well stocked and clean. Employees are friendly and very knowledgeable.
Cons – Have to work very hard. I feel the upper management have no clue to how hard I have to work to get my job done. I have been with this company from Food Lion to Kash and Karry to Sweetbay. Almost 20 years. Need better communication between upper management and employees. They always want more but never get "Job well done". Only what's wrong. I love what I do but would love to hear some good feedback. Without all our hard work down here there would be no Sweetbay!!!
Advice to Senior Management – Would love more positive feedback from them. Listen to what we have to say. Sitting behind your desks things may look good . But ask us how they really work out. We are the ones that make your ideas work or not. Send us out a survey on how we feel your new ideas etc are working. We need to have some input. Stop in unannounced to see how the store really looks. Ask us how we really feel about things. I love my job here and need to feel that I am important.

Pros – Everyone is very nice. Good work environment. They always tell me that I'm always doing a good job and when I'm doing something wrong they always help me how to fix it.
Cons – I would like to get more hours, and like to work different departments.

Former Employee – worked at Sweetbay Supermarket
Pros – The pay is better than most jobs like it at other supermarkets and Sweetbays are typically slower than Publix so you dont have to work as hard
Cons – Crappy management, not much room for advancement, This line of work can get very boring and repetitive.. If you like change you wont like it
Advice to Senior Management – pay better attention to you employees performance both good and bad.. Everyone gets paid the same but some work a lot harder than others

Former Employee – worked at Sweetbay Supermarket full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – I loved my store and my management team. I could not have asked for a better group of people to work with. I believed in each and every individual I hired for my store. It was very important that my associates fit the culture I was looking to achieve. Personality and drive are the key qualities that most CSM's look for, if you don't have ambition don't waste the CSM's time, they have a list of about 900 tasks that they need to complete on a daily basis.
Cons – The pay was the only aspect of the job that I hated. A Manager at Publix makes double what a Manager at Sweetbay earns. Make sure that if you are offered a position that you negotiate strong in the beginning, because this will be your only chance to earn a decent salary.
Advice to Senior Management – I love how Sweetbay offered numerous training courses for Management. I do believe that there is room for growth at a Corporate level. There have been a lot of changes that have been implemented since I left that allow corporate to micromanage the daily operations of its stores. I think this is becoming counterproductive and I have spoken with numerous managers in the recent months who are ready to throw in the towel. Let management run their stores the way they see fit, if they aren't meeting numbers and projections then send them packing, but don't punish the stores that are doing well.

Current Employee – been working at Sweetbay Supermarket
Pros – 40 hours a week and only required to close one night a week. Advancement can be as quick as you want it to be.
Cons – It is retail, holidays and weekends are a requirement. Experienced workers are not found in every department. As with any chain problem associates are not held acountiable for their actions constantitly.
Advice to Senior Management – Wait to hire the best person not just whoever applies.
