    Pros

When you have a Good DM, things seam to be good.

    Cons

there are too many cons to be said - not only from me But anyone that has worked for this Employer - For a company that strives on saying they are a family or want you to feel as though Swift is Family- I have NEVER felt so unappreciated, and unimportant Ever in my time with Swift.

    Advice to Management

Stop Treating drivers that do not have accidents or make split decisions to avoid a possible crash by adding undeserving numbers CSR scores to there record then forcing them to agree to your safety decisions, or they can not drive.

    Advice to Management

make sure your people are able to get a hold of the driver managers and folk they need to to get their issues resolved

    Pros

Good people to work with. We all felt like family and worked together well. People in my office had each others back and did their share. Hours were good and off on weekends.

    Cons

Terminal leader did nothing and left all the work to employees. Didn't spend more than 30 hours in the office a week and sometimes would leave at 10am and not come back for rest of day. Overwhelming work environment. Phones rang so much you couldn't get anything done. When I was terminated terminal leader didn't back me up to save his own skin.

    Advice to Management

Need to look at Sparks terminal carefully. You have the wrong leader in there. Need to be more alert to problems in office and solve them.

    Pros

Great learning company, lots of new equipment

    Cons

Under paid, overworked, limited family time due to low pay. Majority of trailers are in need of repair, planners give LDS that are impossible to deliver or pick up on time

    Advice to Management

Increase pay, more hometime, better LD planning

    Pros

See the country, learn what NOT to do by seeing their failures!

    Cons

I have been w/ Swift over a year, Never home on-time, push you to lease or be a mentor, every paycheck I have to call b/c something is missing, you are just a truck# NOT a person, avg miles for solo company driver is 2000 per week, installing drivecams to watch you drive and in your cab while truck is on, expensive health insurance, terminals need renovating, the drivers showers are in the restrooms just like stalls (no privacy).

    Advice to Management

Respect your workers and they will perform well.

    Pros

The company itself is a good place for drivers that need refresher coarses.

    Cons

I left Swift during my refresher coarse because my safety coordinator in memhis,Tennessee will let anybody be a mentor.Safety is preached over and over during orientation but as soon as you get in the truck with your mentor you soon realize that the mentors doesn't comply by the rules.I went with one mentor that his telescopic steering wheel was broke and would move up and down as I drove down the road. The other mentor had me sleeping on top bunk which I tried to deal with until she kept slamming on her air brakes and making me almost fall out of my top bunk.Swift got upset with me because I wasn't going to just jump back in the truck with thieir crazy mentors.

    Advice to Management

Mgt I took plenty of videos if you need them to see how your none safety compliant drivers are acting as their supposed to be professional training your new drivers. My advise if you don't want your new drivers to not follow safty laws which can cause problems later in your company.RE EVALUATE ALL YOUR MENTORS AND THEIR TRUCKS .EXPECIALLY THE OWNER OPERATERS........Both mentors had me sleep on top bunk while they where driving ,I have videos, and the second mentor didn't know how to stop her truck with air brakes.I left before it was too late.Id rather drive for a company that goes by the safty rules.

    Pros

Awesome company if you can get on a dedicated account,Pays much better also.Had some great driver managers over the years that care about their drivers.

    Cons

Prepare to work OTR when you first start out..Also 95 % of accidents you're involved in will be your fault ! Had a person blow a stop sign and T bone me in 2011 ( I had right away no stop sign for me) . Hit a low utility line at 4:30 am that was about 3'' lower than the trailer. 2 examples of accidents that were non preventable but yet Swift says they were..Only time ever you won't be charged is if you have a animal strike, that's if you don't leave the road.

    Advice to Management

Think about the veteran drivers that have made tons sacrifices for you and the company over a 20 yr career ,before terminating them for stuff they had zero control over.
