  1. Laid back, the upper management is wonderful. But inefficient supervisors.

    Pros

I have been working at Swisscom full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

High variety of Jobs - admin, economics, Marketing, IT, Network, operations etc etc. Very old Company (came out of former postal Services in Switzerland) - historically grown mind set and way of thinking - not always but often enough. Leader in human centric design product devolopment, Innovation design - large freedom for creativitiy. Lots of efforts to offer good work-life-balance

    Cons

highly political - decisions not made because of good Evaluation but because Boss decides that THIS is a good idea. Upper Management lacks academic Formation - decision sometimes made on "Stammtisch" Niveau.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure to hire high kalibers and to Keep them with interesting challenges. Reduce politcal decision making

I have been working at Swisscom full-time

    Pros

They treat you like an adult so they trust you to work sometimes from home. Good people to work with, good natured and often humorous. Good salary and holidays. Some very talented people work there, some far less so.

    Cons

Sometimes very hard and exhausting to persuade colleagues, and influence decision makers who can be very naive. Can bully smaller suppliers because of their sometimes unjustified reputation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to those who have experience in the field instead of relying on easy summaries, and high level generalities that can never match customer specifics.

I have been working at Swisscom full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

You get good benefits and salary. There are many interesting areas to work in in Swisscom.

    Cons

Management is sub optimal. The organization is loosely connected and one hand do not know what the other do. The ordinary employee do not get empowered and too many people have left in my time as they cannot use their potential and simply work on good solutions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get down from your high horse. Listen and talk to your employee and respect their opinion and experience. You loose massive numbers of qualified people each time you shuffle them around without any concern or second opinion.

    I worked at Swisscom

    Pros

Everyone tries to work as a team, very supportive when issues arrive and when help is needed by other in the team, Swiss orientated working environment, good standards and conditions provided in working envionment, great salary and far more higher than would you would expect from other european countries,

    Cons

At times feel not understood may because cultural differences? needs more of an international working environment, could dowith some more colourful people, lacks the understanding that people who come from other cultures other than Switzerland should be integrated, not just incorporated into the culture of the work, again another company if the colour of your skin fits then your in!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Never judge a book by its cover, take a deeper look at the other cultures that come to work for you and you may learn a little more about the world it ways of working.
