I have been working at Symantec full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Medical benefits are solid. Better than a lot of companies even though not perfect. Teams have been solid and my managers have been great all along so far.

    Cons

Currently in the middle of a company split, so there is a little instability from an employment standpoint. It should settle down by the end of the year. There is a bit too much drinking the kool-ade and a lot of spin top-down, but the opposite would be much worse. Pay raises have been stagnant for a bit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the transition schedule on target. Employee's still deserve raises even in transitions like this. Don't force the talent you currently have end up making a pay choice right after the transition ends. Also, RIFs hurt everyone, including Symantec. We have a reputation (rightly so) of dumping valuable people.
