    Pros

Salary is above average. Benefits are good. You can work remotely as long as you get the job done.

    Cons

Little to no professional growth. I've been with the company for 3 years, and I am yet to go through a performance review. Obviously this means no pay increase either.
Product quality varies depending on the product, and Symantec has a lot! If you are a field engineer/consultant, you may end up running around trying to put out fires.
No consistent, clear long term strategy or vision. Management, both upper and mid-level, has changed so many times since I joined the firm. I've had 3 managers in the past 3 years. The company is trying to stay relevant.

    Advice to Management

Innovate, hire better talent, and care about your current top talent before they all leave.

    Pros

Big company with good benefits. Split could be a good thing since there will be more focus.

    Cons

Veritas and Symantec are in transition so a lot of uncertainty.

    Advice to Management

Need to be more transparent about the future.

    Pros

Brand name company with great products, excellent benefits and pay.

    Cons

Constant churning - losing CEO's right and left, no clear direction, I've been laid off from this company twice and I don't plan to go back for a third beating.

    Pros

Good campus. Easy to grow because of churn. Nice people. Ok benefits.

    Cons

Inexperienced leadership. No vision. No strategy. Tier-2 PMs. Afraid of innovation. Too much churn.

    Advice to Management

Higher leaders who have prior experience running organizations. Do not blindly promote to retain. Ask tough questions. Challenge the status quouo.

There is high turnover at the management and above level and organizational changes at least every 1 1/2 years.

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Opportunity to work remotely. Excellent work life balance

    Cons

With all of the changes employees are continuously having to justify their position. Once they are in established with new leadership and looking for growth opportunities changes are made and new leadership comes in and you have to start all over.
Projects get started and then fizzle because of changes.
I had 8 managers in the 7 years I worked there.

    Advice to Management

Establish a strategy and stick with it. If changes need to be made work with existing team do not bring in new people.

    Pros

It's good when you connect with the right leadership team. They really protect and promote those within the "A" list.

    Cons

Promotions and recognitions are not always on work and merit, it's more of who you know.

    Advice to Management

Communicate and execute consistently and fairly.

    Pros

Good compensation, good benefits, good life work balance

    Cons

No clear path for training and advancement. Constant CEO changes are fatal to employees and innovation.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should begin to steer ship in the right direction or risk loosing good employees that push innovation.

    Pros

I was in the Dev team. Amazing team mates; brilliant and driven. you'll learn something new everyday.

    Cons

Most of the QA team I have worked with lacks motivation. They are just there to get a paycheck. Disappointment.
Horrible upper management, not reliable at all.

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. Great people to work with. Nice building. Direct supervisors great to work for. Free bus pass. Gym and cafe on site and even has a basketball court.

    Cons

Customers can be demanding, but that's to be expected. Training can be very lacking in some areas. No separate training staff. Upper management changes often. Layoffs to cut costs just to make the new CEO look good.
