    Pros

Smart people, most of them holding graduate degrees. Managers, even several levels up the chain, are usually friendly and generous with their time. Telecommuting is generally allowed at least 1 day a week, although this varies from one group to another.

    Cons

Limited advancement opportunities - I once asked a mid-level manager how one could get a promotion and he looked me in the eye and said "know somebody". Sadly, my subsequent experience at the company seems to bear that out. Annual raises tend to be rather small and there are few opportunities to learn new skills.

Management can make some rather "Dilbert-esque" decisions. It often seems that the product release schedule is dictated by the usually-irrational promises made by the marketing and/or sales departments rather than logic, resulting in fairly frequent crunch-time scenarios. This in turn leads to product quality suffering and unnecessary levels of stress.

The food in the on-campus cafeterias, while good, is not free, nor is it particularly cheap.

The engineers work in drab grey cubicles under cheap fluorescent lights.

    Advice to Management

Promise less, deliver more. Implement a formal and widely-known process for advancement, either through title or improvement of skills (preferably both).

    Pros

Some interesting work, but working hard doesn't seem to have an upside, but not working hard doesn't seem to have a downside.

    Cons

Working hard doesn't seem to have an upside, but not working hard doesn't seem to have a downside.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the value of individuals, not just of "policies".

    Pros

work life balance is great. Managers help you out and will always be approachable. Very good place to start a career and learning curve will be steep.

    Cons

Going up the ladder shall be very difficult. Very steady paced company, people probably stay longer and hiring new people will happen only if someone leaves. very resource intensive company, hence will invest in people resource only if its absolutely necessary.

    Pros

Good starting salary, Good work/life balance, Quite good cash bonus.

    Cons

Stagnant industry, almost non-existent career growth path, very low salary increase, and ever worsening benefit (401k match is $1500 !!!). No perks other than year-end cash bonus.

If you've just started your career, and not going to stay for so long, or you're already earned enough to retire, but you want to belong to any organization, than this is right place for you.
But, hey, it is a highly technology-driven company, and requires lots of expertise...., which you can find tons of other places that can provide a lot better compensation in return.
