    Well run, top notch leadership

Applications Engineer (Current Employee) Mountain View, CA

ProsVery stable, Lot's of opportunities to grow, customers are treated very well. Values and ethics of the leadership are unquestionable. Leadership with a technical background is perfect for a tech company. Career growth is possible with the right initiative.

ConsCulture of too many meetings and e-mails: engineering works gets compromised. "Difficult" customers are tolerated. Sometimes leadership is too conservative. Lay offs on good times also.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe careful in buying new companies....too many klunkers in the recent past (Virage!!!). Also, sometimes the new company leadership changes the existing work flows in a negative way.

ProsI had a great time working for Synopsys as an intern. The people are very friendly and the work is also very good.

ConsEverybody is very hard working and your seniors will push you to give better output. Which is a good thing actually.

Synopsys is a great EDA company, one of the pioneers, and continues to have great R+D and product portfolios.

Senior Staff R&D Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsVery interesting, challenging projects, great people, a very supportive culture for people who want to dig deep to solve difficult problems.

ConsSome tendency toward bureaucracy, but probably far below average for a company of its size. My experience of the more bureaucratic elements was certainly not stifling and did not have a great impact on productivity. Perhaps more thought should be given to determining the scalability of certain processes before making them mandatory.
M&A is not always the most effective, nor the most profitable way to advance the business.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive more thought to current(up-to-date) product deployment practice which is largely absent from EDA: cloud, EDAaaS, for example.

If I were to rank every company that I worked for in 25 years, Synopsys would rank #1

Executive Account Manager (Former Employee) Phoenix, AZ

ProsRewarding work, Outstanding benefits and salary. Top tier product line. The management cares about it's employees and has developed a work environment that fosters inovation and free thinking. Management is always open to new ideas from employees.

ConsThere is a sense among employees of yearly impending doom. The belief is that your position is only secure for a one year period that ends just before the annual corporate meetings. I often heard it said "Well I got my ticket to the meeting so I must be safe for the next year".

Advice to Senior ManagementWhile my tenure at Synopsys was the highlight of my 25+ year career in semiconductor/eda arena, I would suggest to management that they work on developing a sense of security about an employee's position.
