I have been working at Synovus full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I loved the work I did and the people I worked with. I learned something new every day. I stayed up to date because of compliance testing and online training.

    Cons

Company layoffs contributed little to job security.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take comments made from employee "Right Steps" very seriously for faster improvement and better knowledge of adversities.

I have been working at Synovus full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Always learning something new, REALLY great people to work with. I made sure I took advantage of getting my hands on as many projects as I could. My manager was really helpful in giving me ideas for development. I thought I was a pretty good programmer before I came here, but I learned Sooo much more just after the first month. It really helps if your an active participant in your internship though, otherwise you will get bored like anywhere else.

    Cons

As any tech department, communication between departments isnt the greatest, but no real cons here

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More interaction between interns in the different departments. Schedule a goal for an end of summer project of some nature...

    I worked at Synovus

    Pros

The company uses technology and the bank footprint to leverage itself in the mortgage industry. There were always good products and services available for my clients.

    Cons

The home office in Birmingham held all of the back office staff- out of state processing and underwriting sometimes made it difficult.

I have been working at Synovus

    Pros

There is little to no drama here. It is a great company, and the management really cares about its employees. If you work hard and help out, the management will let you know you are doing a great job. If you need to take a personal day because something has come up last minute, you can do it. If you don't take all of your vacation, you can without fear you will be fire because you took all of it. The management truly cares about the employees. You can eat and drink at your desk and listen to the radio. You just need to do quality work and get it done on time.

There are a few committees including a rewards and recognition committee which hands out rewards each quarter as well as an events committee which comes up with fun events throughout the year.

    Cons

They use to give raises every year, but it has become harder for the company after the mortgage crisis and the bad economy. There is also talk about layoffs recently.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is doing a good job overall. They treat all team members with respect, and they make you feel like an important part of the company. In these bad economic times, all we can do is try our best and hope it all works out. I appreciate the actions management has taken to try to preserve our jobs. One manager at our location took on additional responsibilities of 2 extra positions so that if there are layoffs, not as many people would be let go.

    Pros

The work schedule is great, the employees are wonderful, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Enjoy going to work each day!

    Cons

The only con I have is compensation...I would like to make more money and I would like to have more responsibility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The only advice I have is to continue doing what you do. Continue to encourage the employees and continue making it a great place to work.

I have been working at Synovus

    Pros

Outstanding leadership, work environment, and fellow team members. The environment is overall positive and promotes team member empowerment. I see myself growing with Synovus for many years to come. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

    Cons

Systems are slow and sometimes can appear in-efficient. Online banking features are "ok", but not as advanced as some of the bigger banks. More of a centralized employee support system is needed for consistency. Little to no advertisement and brand recognition. Seems to commercial banking focused at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Synovus is a great brand, with great people. The company should do more to advertise to the consumer who we really are. Not enough time and money goes into "consumer bank" branding...don't focus so much on commercial banking

    I worked at Synovus

    Pros

The people and culture are great. Salary is okay, and salary increases are regular and almost automatic. Incentive plans are attainable.

    Cons

Training/development lacking. Sometimes seems disorganized. Poor job of recruitment real talent, many new hires are simply unproductive and as a result don't last long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Synovus banks should all be brought under one charter and brand name if the bank is to achieve its goal of becoming the premiere bank in the Southeast. Also, do a better job of recruiting production team members & hold them accountable for results. Seems like most of their guys just BS their way in the door, then do not produce results.
