    I worked at Syntel

    Pros

My direct boss was great to work for but he left due to senior management's people philosophies, I am still in touch with him he basically said I can not let you execute the sales strategy, you will fail we have to think differently

    Cons

Can not trust senior management, cut throat culture, not organized, their channel partner model was take as many leads but do not give back

Difficult to find information, new hire orientation is minimal, consultants are not treated as people ,more as a commodity. the sales people actually compete against each other.

Takes adavantage of the Indian consultants and delays the process of getting their green cards

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your people, they are your greatest assets

I have been working at Syntel

    Pros

Salary may seem little better compared to similar IT consulting firms like TCS, Wipro and Infy but similarity stops there as medical benefits, 401 K and ESOPs are NONE. Medical coverage starts when you have spent $5000 from your pocket.

    Cons

    - No Employee stock option
    - Little or no salary raise
    - No career growth
    - Medical benefits worst in the industry
    - No contribution to your 401 K
    - High attrition rate at offshore

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You can never be a Billion dollar company by low employee morale. Learn the concept of profit sharing with employees from Infy.

    Pros

A good launch pad for freshmen to learn the craft- they make you do the work of 10 people and you learn a lot in the first two years. Then you make the new freshman in team do the work of 10 men.Its a pure body shopping service.

    Cons

Very low and disparate salaries :
    Employees on US deputation:
L1 visa get an allowance of 2300 $ per mnth - imagine living on 2300 $ with family in California
    H1 visa gets 3200 $
US employees :50 K to 85 K PA for techies
    No Green Card processing
Employee Insurance provided is far below industry stndrds

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

1.Respect your employees, pay them enough money to lead a good life.
    2.Stop exploiting freshmen
    3.Implement good Project Management practices
    4.be honest with your clients

I have been working at Syntel full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I have joined as a freasher and luck was their with me so that i got a good chance to learn new things . otherwise they mostly put freashers in production support jobs. Only monitoring job it is nothing is their to learn. i even saw how freashers pleed to the HR to change their projects but of no use. If you do not have any problem in monitoring job you may get a chance to go to onsite.

For Lateral entry the company is good as they treat them is a good manner at least.

    Cons

    1. Not a good company at all for freashers.
    2. Many Production support projects are there so nothing is their to learn.
    3. Many times developments projects also very boring.
    4. If you are luckly in a good project prepare yourself to work for more than 12 hrs a day. As they do not mentain good resource balance in projects. Production project where scope of new work is very limited they give more resources to that project but in challenging projects they used to keep very less ammount of people.
    5. after working more than 12 hours even do not think about a good hike.
6.HR is not at all supportive.
7.Company only belives in channel building if u have good connection with your manager then your life is very smooth here.
8.For lateral entry you can join the company for a hike then please change the company as soon as possible otherwise one day you will loose your expertise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please do take care of your employees they only generate revenue for you guys

    Pros

I was very happy when I joined the company ......After some days I came to know at what class Syntel is all about...It is good place for the people who don't want to learn anything new ..but want to stick to what govt employees do ...If you really want to grow don't choose Syntel for you...Lack of professionalism , transparency is not there in promotions ...

    Cons

Company is not employee friendly ....some teams are working more then 11 hours a day ...This is how employees are getting the treatment.
