I have been working at Systemax full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

You have the possibility to make a lot of money. Lower management does their best to help you succeed

    Cons

You're micro managed, with no ability to make decisions on your own. The software that should have been replaced 20 years ago. No. Lack of communication between upper management and grunts. Horrible training and benefits, your monthly cost for Health insurance will run $230, and its crap.

I worked at Systemax full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Employees like to play baseball in the summer. Coffee, tea, and cookies on Thursday. Comfortable chairs. Bathrooms are usually clean.

    Cons

Inadequate staff, low pay, required long hours, routine 12-14 hour days. Managers refuse to approve budget for adequate resources to perform functions. Internal communications are required to be non-retained chat or phone, no emails.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide appropriate budget for resources to perform functions competently and work/life balance. Allow email and normal forms of communication to more efficiently perform job duties.

I have been working at Systemax as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Learned how to factory reboot PC Laptops, Desktops, Androids and repackage the product for the TigerDirect.com website.

    Cons

Being treated unprofessional from the rude supervisors and testing non electronic items such as an "Expresso Coffee Maker" or "Ab Lounge" . Also overworked for this coming Thanksgiving with 10 needed hours 5 days a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should never lie about the position or hide the fact that you did not mention one would be in a factory. I would not work here even if I was a permanent employee

I have been working at Systemax as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

There is absolutely none, as in not part of the company agenda for anyone to succeed.

    Cons

Racist, colluding with Human resources and lawyers. No fair hearing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time evaluating upper IT management and firing them.

I worked at Systemax full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It is perfect for a first job because it helped me learn how to do a job even though I hated it.

    Cons

Low pay mostly commission. They tell you can make a lot of money, but that is not true. It is extremely difficult. You are competing with people within the same branch and with several branches around the country. There tag system is terrible. Vacation/sick time is a joke. I can go on and on for this company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop treating your employees like children and/or cattle.

I worked at Systemax full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

New leadership seems to have potential. For a large company, there is the ability to standout by doing good work.

    Cons

    - Culture is terrible; it's not fun to work here
    - There is no performance management system
    - More methods management vs. results oriented management
    - Unprofessional with lack of good talent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The ownership of the company (Leeds) need to allow their local business unit executives to lead without interference or creating unecessarry politics.

The culture needs fixed, top talent needs acquired, and brand needs figured out... before Amazon completey eats all of your lunch.

I have been working at Systemax full-time

    Pros

There are not very many pros to working here

    Cons

The benefits are terrible and the very senior leaders don't want to do anything to fix it. There is no sick time, you have to work 6 months before you accrue any vacation, and then you only get 10 days. Health insurance is really expensive. No work life balance- you're expected to work from 7- 7. Managers have no leadership skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire some more decent leaders and get rid of the ones who don't get it.

I have been working at Systemax

    Pros

Salary - This company pays some of the best salaries in the region. By far the cons do outweigh even this benefit.

    Cons

The new management (installed in 2011) is terrible to employees and will terminate them on a whim.
Stay away from this company if you have any sort of ethics.
Most employees there are afraid to take any risk due to management's heavy hand when it comes to mistakes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sell the company - you really have no idea how to treat employees. It's the people that work there that will make or break your company and you have done everything possible to make them hate you.

    I worked at Systemax

    Pros

Low expectations, easy to get entry level experience.

    Cons

Little communication and support from management, VERY unprofessional. You could work here for many years and be fired for no reason (or even a goodbye from old co-workers). No regard for work-life balance, salaried employees expected to work 50ish hours. Most every employee is viewed as a commodity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The organization is so infected with unprofessionalism and selfishness that I can't think of any honest suggestions to fix the problems within it.
