I worked at T-Mobile (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They care a flare at deal for their employees providing numerous benefits and opportunities to pretty much anyone who is willing to work hard and think outside the box.

    Cons

Like any competitive industry you are beholden to sales goals which, at times, may not be representative of actual success; the result being good people losing incentive and bad people being rewarded... That said, they almost always get it right.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask whether the objectives you set for your ground level people are mutually beneficial to their growth and the benefit of the organization. If the answer is no, go back to the drawing board. Don't force bad ideas and bad policies.

    I worked at T-Mobile part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I was working here in college, it was pretty solid pay for a part time job. Most of the sales associates working there are pretty fun and relaxed. Great plan discount. I always had the newest iPhone for like $50/month. They offer benefits and 401k. They're a revolutionary type of company doing things different than most other carriers. CEO is pretty crazy, but in a good/cool/kinda weird way.

    Cons

HIT YOUR NUMBERS. Plain and simple. They'll treat you like the man of the year if you're performing but once they start to slip a lil.....they're on you like butter on bread. And there's like 9 or 10 different metrics you have to keep up with. All your customer support is outsourced too which can make your job even harder, especially when people come in already having problems. Theres a lot of turnover, but most of it depends on your manager. I was there for about 2 years with one manager then he went to a different store and I just did't get along with the next one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Chill out on the energy drinks. A lot of you guys are really tweaking some times.

I have been working at T-Mobile

    Pros

    Compensation and benefits are amazing.

Retail: You must sell and if you do your job, the pay is great! This is great for a college student or someone that is looking to add some sales experience.

    Cons

You must be friends with the right people, if you do not, its very hard to move up.

    Must play politics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing.

Coaching can be a little better but overall, good job!

I have been working at T-Mobile full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The health Benefits, employee perks and discounts, monthly incentives, six month set schedules which have the option of working 4 days a week, bonuses based on performance

    Cons

Favoritism to get ahead. They hire outside people for management roles that takes a long time to learn the basics.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop with the favoritism for promotions..why does it take longer for a tenured top rep to get a promotion than a new person straight out of training?

    Pros

Benefits are outstanding from part-time on up. Lots of opportunity to advance your career. Cutting edge. Good pay.

    Cons

    Long hours and work-life balance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The approach that every market is the same does not hold water. Challenges very from city to city and the expectations around the focuses cause worry and burnout to those with a distinct disadvantage or lack of support. Also, focuses change to frequently which causes confusion as to what's really important down at a store level. Consistency around a core focus that will grow allow the company to grow and seeing challenges as something more itemized instead of universal would reduce burnout and improve moral.
