Good place to work, but opportunities for advancement and growth are few and far between.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Baltimore, MD

Pros- The benefits are good - but with a recent change in health plans, have gotten much more expensive for a lower level in health care.

Cons- Lower take-home pay from any other financial institution or regulatory agency in the area that I know of.

Advice to Senior ManagementFor those looking to move upward, help lay out a plan for your associates, new or old, in milestones they can achieve in order to be in the best position possible to move up along the ladder - right now, there isn't enough of it.

Great experience, not so great pay for performance.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Owings Mills, MD

ProsBenefits are decent, job security is high, people are nice, perks ok

Conspay is horrible, positive reinforcement isnt always there, they promote on being nice and not what you know.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake care of your lower level managers and associates better and you can retain the employees that are worth keeping and not the ones who the employees worth keeping get out of trouble

Consmoderate salaries, slow to make decisions, hierarchical as to promotions, faces some business challenges in the future because of secular changes

Advice to Senior Managementlook more aggressively for talent in lower ranks and don't be afraid to reward it

Micromanagement - Sudden Death for Office Morale

Retail Service Associate (Current Employee) Tampa, FL

    ProsAwesome benefits.
After 4 yrs you get 3 weeks of vacation.
It's a fun place to work if you don't have a micro manager breathing down your neck.
Beautiful view of either the airport or downtown Tampa.
Company has a gym on the first floor and gives you $250/yr for a gym membership.
They hire genuinely good people who are nice to be around. It's a very safe work environment.

ConsThe company loves to promote people who are incompetent. If you know a lot, you're see as a threat. They'd like some Certain people are "fast tracked" for no apparent reason. The one nice thing is, if you're a woman or a minority...they love that. If you're not you better learn to kiss up. It's not uncommon for a supervisor to be overseeing a department they've never ever worked in. You don't need to know anything to lead - I believe that's EDGE's motto. You have to work one weekend day a month.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't be so slow to hire. In doing so, people are promoted who aren't ready. This then hurts the company as a whole.

Good place to begin your career.

Data Specialist (Current Employee) Baltimore, MD

    ProsStrong culture
High level of intelligence amongst co-workers
    Beautiful campus
    Well known global company
    Great benefits
    Short commute
    Friendly co-workers

    ConsPay is lacking
Too conservative in comparison to the rest of the industry

Advice to Senior ManagementIn order to retain quality, motivated employees, salaries need to be adjusted to a more balanced level. Compensation is one of the main weaknesses with the firm.
