    Pros

-easy to pick up shifts for extra money.
    -you meet pretty cool customers
-the fast pasted environment makes the shifts quicker

    Cons

-You would think because of their flexible hours, a college student would fit right in. WRONG! Students are penalized for not having "open availability".
-there were only 2 chairs that were "rotated" among tellers.
-if you did not have an opening shift you would not get a chair.
-new tellers are expected to meet unrealistic performance expectations.
    -management definitely has favorites.
-there will be no time to find the difference of a new teller. But veteran tellers can stay all night to find theirs.
    - 6:30am, saturday branch meetings. (even if you are not working that they)
-i've seen many new tellers get fired(without warning) for mistakes anyone could have made
-you may be required to greet for all day with out a lunch break.
-I have taken a 3hr lunch, in order to avoid overtime!!!
-management forgets to approve your time.
-be prepared to carry 20lb bags of coins from that filthy penny arcade.
-management is really strict about attire.

    Advice to Management

stop playing favorites. Many students work here so they can take advantage of the flexible hours. Please do not require part time 20hr employees to be "open" 7 days a wk. Chances are they are pt to go to school! duh!

  3. The tellers have a tough job!! Though we are the least respected, and not taken care of at all!!!!!!

    Pros

The amount of time you get for PTO is great!!! Great job for students!!! I feel some of the higher management,(not in the branch), may mean well but really don't see how poorly the tellers are taken care of.

    Cons

The job pays terrible!! This is the lowest paying job i have ever had in eight years!!! The raises you get are a BIG slap in the face. Why even get them? That is how terrible they are!!! No joke!! It is also terrible when other people get hired at a higher pay rate with NO experience than a teller who has been there multiple years!! Someone please explain that. You are also not recognized for the work you do. You may be told you are doing great, but that does not pay the bills. How can anyone live off of a thousand bucks a month? Rent alone is usual 850. So please don't have a car or expect to eat. Tellers have a ton of responsibilities and could be fired at any moment, we should be paid more than what we get. The max pay raise is 2%. What is that!!!

    Advice to Management

Please realize that a teller is a very stressful job. I would recommend paying a minimum of 12 an hour. Otherwise the turnover will continue!! Its only a good job if you are in college and plan on leaving!!

    Pros

Great place to work if you're a college student or only need part time work. It's also good if you're starting a career in the financial industry or if you need to build your resume for future jobs in customer service.

    Cons

If I have to answer this truthfully, I'll be here all day long. The pay rate stinks compared to every single other financial institution on the planet. Organization, communication, and everything in between since the merger is far beyond any comeback to compare to Commerce Bank standards.

    Advice to Management

Stop hovering over the employee's and let them show you what they're capable of. If there are rules to be followed then enforce them but you have to give a person room to grow in their profession.

Enjoy being wrung like a dishrag until you hate this place enough to quit. Low salary, badly managed, only positive was that they were too shortstaffed to fire anyone.

    Pros

In the mid level there are many competent good people.

    Cons

TD Commerce Bank is staffed with incompetent and unmotivated people at the lower levels/ranks. Errors and mistakes are common. Understaffed. No resources. Super cheap employer, people work with 14" old notebook computers, constant computer craches, lousy systems. Management heavy. Too many useless managers at the high level who only increase bureaucracy and bureaucratic processes and do not contribute to anything, just parasites. Overbureaucratized organization.

    Advice to Management

Fire most of the senior executives and do not rehire any!!! Reduce fat. Hire more troops at the low level. Keep and reward the competent mid level people.

    Pros

If you have the right people backing you up then you can move up in the company fairly quickly. Can make a good amount of money in the industry but of course have to know the right person. The hours are flexible and if you are still in school it is a great way to get a decent name on your resume. You can meet pretty interesting people and network. It is a wonderful way to get your foot in the door if you are willing to do a bit of sucking up to. Great job for moms and students.

    Cons

Where do I begin....they treat you like a slave. Pay is mediocre for the amount of hours. They don't explain procedures properly and then expect you to know what you are doing. They bend the rules for whom they please and screw others over. They quality of life, that an employee that works in the branch lives is horrible. They expect you to kiss the customers butts while they treat you like crap. When you finally go out of your way to help someone nobody, not even the manager appreciates it. They have extremely stupid rules that make more work for you and inconveniences the customer unlike what their motto.

    Advice to Management

Better training management. Provide more feedback and proper procedure explanation. Encouragement of all employees not just a select few. Hire more professional staff.

    Pros

TD Commerce appears to be a growing institution.

    Cons

Opportunities are based more on who you know versus what you know. Promises are made, but quickly forgotten! Information is not communicated.

    Advice to Management

Reward on performance & keep employees satisfied!

    Pros

Before TD bought Commerce Bank, it was great! We were all about the customer and retaining them. Building great relationships.

    Cons

Once TD took over, they said nothing would change - well it did and fast. The conversion was a nightmare. The pushed and pushed employees to sell products, everything was a number. Then they started incentives for sales, which were not worth it, upper management repeatedly threatened your job, then it got to the point where they started firing staff, even long time good staff. This is being done because of the "numbers" game. The less people in the branches the more incentive money middle management gets! So they don't care that branches are short handed.

    Advice to Management

I don't think senior management is getting the message from middle management about the branch moral. They continually take "the temperature" of branches and ask for input, however, nothing is done.

    Pros

Very little to say on a positive end. Worked for other banks by far the worst bank. Pay is horrible long hours I was offered a promotion after 8 months of employment. The increase in salary did not match the increase in responsibilities. Branch Manager was never around its like he did not exist. Branch managers would receive a six figure salary for going to meetings and never show up on weekends. The whole structure was a joke At one point I worked 11 days in a row including weekends. all the pressure would be put on the assistant branch managers and they would only make half the salary as the Branch manager.

    Cons

They run the place like a gap retail store instead of a bank. Sorry lollipops and free pens wont attract business in a market like NewYork

    Advice to Management

Look at your competitors see how they run things. Stop "shopping your employees" and pay them fair market value compared to your competitors. Its not all about Branch appearance people want quality service with quality products not free pens
