    Pros

Most employees are nice and helpful for new recruits, good incentives if you and your store meet sales numbers, and fairly relaxed work environment

    Cons

Management is unorganized, a lot of favoritism occurs, and you do not get much time away from work (always being called in early, staying late, called in on days off)

    Advice to Management

Needs to learn to delegate duties better, be more organized, and show less favoritism among employees.

  2. Absolutely loved working for commerce left when it became TD. TD doesn't treat employees like commerce did

The Company was growing really fast.

Company was fraught with scandal the whole time I worked there- an then bought out by a Canadian Bank- TD.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

This is a bank that's not likely to go out of business.
    There are benefits too.

    Cons

    The pay is quite low.
    Too many coworkers are unfriendly.
Some can't even say "Good Morning."

    Advice to Management

It would be nice to learn how to advance
into something that pays more and yet is happy enough.

There also needs to be less of an atmosphere of
"This idea is no good, because it isn't MY(!) idea."

  6. Great corporate communications, branch level management needs more!

    Pros

Great way for a young person to get involved with the banking industry, no experience necessary. Also great growth potential, given that you are driven and take ownership to learn and advance.

    Cons

Poor management at the branch level left employees unengaged and unenthusiastic for their positions. They often pushed back on learning opportunities I tried to take advantage of and when I finally cross-trained to become a CSR they restricted me from transitioning to the floor. Also, little to no pay increases for new skills acquired.

    Advice to Management

While the corporate communications and employee relations were fantastic, there is a conflicting message from branch management. No matter what communications programs you have in place, managers are ultimately the best way to reach employees are your strongest messenger!

    Pros

Commerce had a fun work culture. Exceeding expectations was encouraged, not forced.

    Cons

With the switch to TD, the environment become more like some other big banks, more of a "publish or perish" feel.

    Advice to Management

Don't try to be one of the big banks, what made you great was your small bank mentality.

    Pros

good benefits, decent career advancement program, attempting to improve employee satisaction, Many projects to help out with in the community, tuition reimbursement

    Cons

pay is low, they pay new employees way more than existing, their is no respect for work life balance, holidays, personal time, etc. They have a horrible training progra that you do not really learn the branch essentials in and then you are thrown out on a desk or a teller box immediately,

    Advice to Management

Do not use Cash program as a way to exploit hardworking employees into performing 2 or more job functions at the same time to save money. This is not helping your employees grow-but pushing them ut the door. Business Development should be for a "business officer"- our store have the highest foot traffic any competitor, yet we have our managers the most important leader out all the time doing development. These stores are busy and need more managers or supervisors inorder to keep up with the constant firedrills and what is expected of us. We should have more employees, a better HR recruiting system, and a floating pool of new hires who have been properly trained to fill in when we need help because the turn over rate is very high
