I worked at TEKsystems full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Cowokers are typically all A type, similar personalities. The long hours are almost bearable when you are surrounded by an office full of your friends

    Cons

TekSystems is successful because they prey on new grads (who do not know any better), and offer them the world. They work you 55 hours a week minimum, and hound you if you come in later than 7:30 am or leave before 6pm. There are weekend "optional" hours, but they aren't optional if you want to keep your job.

When I finally had enough of the abuse (a year and a half later), and attempted to put my two weeks in, they were very unprofessional and beat me down about my lack of commitment to the company and cause (who knows what the "cause" is).

I left in late 2013, along with about half of my office - Teksystems has sued a multitude of my previous co-workers for their "non-compete" clauses, and made it VERY hard for local recruiters to get a job with anyone but them. I strongly recommend not accepting a job with TEK as a recruiter or sales person.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop suing your past employees, and forcing people to work weekends.

I have been working at TEKsystems as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

    1) You have a job
    2) You get money
    3) Did I mention that you have a job?

    Cons

    1) Non-chalance about HR and compensation issues
    2) Constantly reminds employees about "how lucky" they are to be "given the opportunity" that they gave you.
    3) Account managers take credit for your work, then turn around and say that you don't contribute enough, so as to prevent wage increases
    4) Offer to promote employees on present contract, increasing the workload you take on, but do not increase the wage you have -- state that any wage increases would be done "down the road" without presenting a roadmap as to when it would happen nor without key performance indicators given.
    5) They back-fill positions in Enterprise-level IT with people that could benefit from a year or three with Geeksquad

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1) Listen -- no, really LISTEN -- to employees, especially when you're coming in to a new contract and trying to "fix" the mistakes of the last group
    2) Do NOT undervalue your employees, then expect them to be grateful employees.
    3) Pay employees according to what you expect them to do

I worked at TEKsystems full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some very smart people. Great client base.

    Cons

Hypocritical ethics and culture, unprofessional behavior, not aligned to current market trends, undervalued employees, low salary compared to market, benefits lacking compared to competitors, culture rewards plagiarism, no women in executive roles, strange money saving rules like hotel room sharing, antiquated internal tools.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Address key retention aspects: salary, benefits, diversity.

I worked at TEKsystems as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Non. Considering how they treat people they contract, I can't find any.

    Cons

They don't have your back. They will take the word over the client to keep their accounts. You are expendable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Well first, don't misrepresent the contract. Second, get rid of recruiters that have no idea what they are signing the person up with. And have the back of your consultants! After all, the consultants work for you, so by bad mouthing them, you are actually bad mouthing yourself!

I worked at TEKsystems full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fine for someone trying to get their foot in the door but the pay is no better for experienced help Tek Systems is more interested in padding their pockets than they are in placing quality help.

    Cons

Low pay and little chance of a perm position unless you have worked with them for 3 years or more and with the poor pay scale that's tough to do, I have seen many temp workers go more than 7 years at the same work location before getting even a slim chance for permanent hire. The environment creates a poor attitude among the temps low pay combined with inexperienced makes for very difficult working conditions at the client sites as the clients have little confidence in temp workers who are often seen as competition by full time workers who are afraid of being replaced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do your clients a favor and pay your temp workers a fair wage stop taking advantage of both clients and temp workers

    I worked at TEKsystems

    Pros

You learn a lot and it's a huge springboard to other opportunities

    Cons

They pay you very little in commission and then they turn and say you need to do a better job. The spread is so small that there is no way you can survive on it

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your people better. Pay them better. Just becAuse you say hour a family doesn't make you one. It's just an excuse to be nosy and control

I worked at TEKsystems as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Cant think of any right now

    Cons

This company needs to understand you do what's best for you. Leave a project one day early to start a long term project, They were notified 2 weeks in advance but know they will not consider me for another position with a company I have history with. Their loss, I'm meeting with that company next week thru another vendor

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Before you black list a person you should make sure you have just reason.

I have been working at TEKsystems as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Very nice and helpful at first, gave tips and advice according to the company they are hiring for.

    Cons

They upsell you too much to the point the employer thinks they are getting a god of a employee, they tried to stick me in a company that requires 4 year college degree, NO EXCEPTION, but they some how convinced them to interview me and they did, when I got there they said they said they don't hire people unless they have a 4 year degree and if they don't they have to be a "rockstar", which in there mind is a 15+ year experienced person in their field that has worked for a large enterprise for majority of their career.
Well needless to say I was not offered anything, even tho I feel I nailed the interview. How did I know I didn't get the job?? No they didn't tell me, heck if you don't get a offer teksystems doesn't even want anything to do with you and acts like you don't exsist. So how did I find out? I was looking on some job posting websites and noticed that the day I was supposed to find out who they picked I see a job posting that day with the recruiter I was working with contacts info.

All this seems very unprofessional to me and sad to say will not be going back to them for more jobs. I was a company to interview me for what I know and fill a position I can work in, even if I got an offer from the company I would have not taken it because I am not at the knowledge and experience level they need.

    Pros

I can honestly say Teksystems has NO Pros, they are terrible.

    Cons

Very unprofessional and will do next to nothing to find you work. Totally incompetent recruiters that provide horrible service and don't care about the employee they are trying to find work for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire recruiters who actually know what they are doing.

    Pros

They take you out for lunch every few months

    Cons

They are cheap. You are nothing but a profit to them. They will not pay you fairly, avoid and go to PFI Tech or Apex..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees fair wage, than they will respect you.
