I have been working at TEKsystems

    Pros

The company does a second to none job of training their recruiters.

    Cons

TEKsystem's may talk about work life balance, but it doesn't exist. They also "value" you as an internal employee while you are there, but the moment you leave, you are cut off from communication and they will come after you with letters from their lawyers about breaching non compete contracts. There are so many lawsuits to be found online. After talking to many former TEK employees, everyone said the same thing. They received a warning letter. Turnover is high and by creating this "fear" and general non compete contracts, I would be very careful when you leave.

I have been working at TEKsystems as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

-Good place to work while looking for another job

-Recruiter was nice (but sometimes pushy). Recruiter was able to negotiate a higher pay rate for me than other contractors that performed the same duties at the same client site.

-Better than not having a job

    -Resume builder

-Recruiters occasionally take contractors out to lunch

    Cons

-I have found that most of the recruiters and account managers know very little about IT. I remember another recruiter that I worked with saying that they wanted to "download with [me] this afternoon" -- download does not mean let's meet and talk. I suppose you don't have to know a lot about something to sell it?

-I was under the impression that the job would be more technical than it actually was -- I ended up working at an IT Service Center doing customer service work -- very little IT knowledge, skills and/or abilities were required to do this job.

-There was an error made on one of my paychecks, it was fixed, but I had to waste a lot of time to try and convince TEK about the discrepancy. Then it took TEK 2-3 weeks to fix it. I shouldn't have had to do this in the first place. If I hadn't said anything TEK would have significantly underpaid me on one paycheck

-TEK doesn't necessarily care about your well-being or your best interest -- remember that when dealing with these people.

    -No relocation assistance

    -Benefits are below par

-Although the pay was alright FTEs, that did the exact same job for this client, made 3 dollars an hour more than me

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I wish I had thought of a business model which exploits millennials searching for jobs -- but you guys beat me to it.

    Pros

It is true they can facilitate finding a position for you. They have online training opportunities.

    Cons

With me, they started out taking approximately 55% of the monies paid by contracting company. Over time, I got to where I was getting close to the 60% mark and they were getting the other 40%.

I have been working at TEKsystems as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

After numerous attempts, I was able to finally schedule an interview and talk about jobs and opportunity. The interviewer seemed a bit "better than you," which made their professionalism questionable.

    Cons

From day one, communication has been terrible. Trying to get anyone on the phone or email you back is very hard. They make the big talk like they are going to help you get a job, but when it comes to delivery, they're pretty much a no show. And it makes you seem like you're buying a car from a sales person when they tell you, they need to speak to their account manager before you can progress through. That was somewhat odd.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Without the employees, your company couldn't survive. It's important to remember that. Show respect and sensitivity to people's situations. Many people are on hard times and are looking for those who are compassionate and show a genuine desire to create a fit for you in the big picture.

    I worked at TEKsystems full-time

    Pros

You can definitely come right out of college and get lucky with a few placements and make some great money. It's a good way to build your work ethic because working here is like working in the military and most companies will like that you've worked in this organization in your next job interview

    Cons

It is a cult. If you're not hanging out and getting blacked out drunk with your co workers on the weekends then you become an outsider no matter how hard you work and how well you do. They cross the line when it comes to work/life balance and they want you to build "emotionally invested" relationships with your co workers. They love to play mind games and someone is always pretending to reach out to you as a kindness but they're really just doing it to get noticed and check a box and show that they are "fitting in to the culture". 2 years at the most and then look elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give people credit for their hard work even if they come in and keep their head down and are grinding it out. Not everyone wants to spend every waking second with their co workers who they see all day everyday during the work week.

I have been working at TEKsystems as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Account managers tend to be close to clients

    Cons

As recruiters they are too slow in announcing job postings. Sometimes it takes a week for them to post or announce when other recruiters call you on the same day it is announce.

Don't understand the dynamics of contract personnel.
Don't know about consequences of mergers and acquisitions.

    Pros

Tek has great training for recruiters and sales people and the potential for. Small handful of people to make a lot of money with the right market environment.

    Cons

Low base salary, long hours, lots of office politics, after training there is a large gap lack of support, horrible benefits (definitely use your spouses), lots of vacation but you're guilted into not taking it, no diversity in advancement opportunities...

Disappointing Experience. TEKsystems only cares about the money and holding clients. Candidates are just cash cows.

I worked at TEKsystems as a contractor

    Pros

Getting paid on time and that the job was not far from where I live. The CSA fixed any issues I had with my time or pay.

    Cons

Low pay, bad recruiter that lied about the position becoming permanent after 6 months, no benefits, and doesn't stand with the candidates. Its all about money and you as a contract employee are nothing to them after they get you through the door. The recruiter will put up a front as if they are interested and after you're in the door, they disappear. The pay is crappy and barely enough to live on and I can imagine how much they charge the client. The assignment that I was placed at was a depressing environment where contractors are treated like ginger headed step children. If the economy wasn't bad, I would quickly run away from it and burn my bridges with TEKsystems. I would only recommended if this was your first job out of college and need to get a foot in the door into IT. After the first year, run...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

TEKsystems is lucky that companies are outsourcing their IT and have desperate Techs that would tolerate their crap for menial pay. The management won't change so the advice to them is meaningless.
