    I worked at TELUS

    Pros

    Allows Work From Home.
Has nice Laptops for work + another monitor so you get a big workspace.
    flexible time.
nice co - workers and nice boss as well in the main office in canada

    Cons

It's a big company so there will be politics ne way or another.
Each team (as far as I'm concerned in my work) takes care of its own problems only. Once they see the message passed to their system is correct, pass it along to the next in line to check. It seems to me problems will be solved if both teams work more together than just passing stuff around and forgetting about it.

Too many meetings, you won't have time to get things done in the office at times (depends on your position).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

keep up the good work! I know a lot of people who love the company and love their work here.

    I worked at TELUS

    Pros

Great place to work, great benefits, etc. Good performance is rewarded.

    Cons

Rewards go to the areas currently perceived as best serving corporate goals. But, it's a constantly changing and impossible to predict business. One thing is certain, the corporate goals will shift as will the perception of which areas are best serving those goals. Regardless of your past contributions or your potential for future contributions, when the corporate focus moves away from you, you'll be gone.

I have been working at TELUS full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Work-life balance, good support from managers, located in a city with a decent climate

    Cons

Compensation is below average (you don't even need to move to the US to find a better salary). New grad program was supposed to be rotational to give people diverse experiences but that just got canned right as we were hired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice the values you preach. Pay your developers better and maybe the quality of your applicants would improve.

I worked at TELUS full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The company is very Customer focused. They work hard to develop highly engaged teams, although sometimes the ratings appear to be "bought". They support a flexible work styles program where more and more people are working from home. Benefits packages are good. Employee stock plan was very lucrative. Great focus on the community and supporting many charities.

    Cons

No shortage of politics and there appears to be a good old boy network at the very top with some executives. Only received one pay raise in nearly 10 years despite picking up ever increasing accountabilities and excellent performance reviews. I also witnessed many great people get let go after many years of service without a chance to find another role in the company simply because a new manager wanted somebody different.

I have been working at TELUS full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Working remotely, and stock options are great perks.

    Cons

Dishonest and unethical senior management that blatently disregard the very same ethics and integrity they expect from those that report to them. Nepotism and cronyism reign supreme while hardworking folks who repeatedly make sacrifices for the good of the business continually get the shaft.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach and walk the talk. Hiring and promoting your personal friends for critical projects wreaks of nepotism and exposes the ugly truth about the "team" which is only called one when it suits the needs of certain senior management members. Squndering thousands of dollars wining and dining your cronies on corporate expense accounts while stating there isn't money available for ethical and honest team members wreaks of hypocrisy and dishonesty, and kills morale. Nothing would please me more than to see some of these directors corporate cards fully audited. I've personally witnessed 4-digit bar tabs charged to corporate accounts. Shameful and disgusting. Just look for the ones who travel regularly between Vancouver and Toronto....

I worked at TELUS full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits and employee perks (discount in various companies).
    Great knowledge base availability.
Seniority is taken into consideration regarding salary raises and promotions.

    Cons

No flexibility on transfer, restrict opportunities for growth, micro management for Front LIne positions, extremely exigent on performance and very little support from managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest on the employees talents and promote internal growth.
Change metrics that favours average works and hurts top performers as overall performance is not taken into consideration but on KPI points instead.
Open space for creativity and honest feedback from employees.
Exit interview should not be held on employee computer, manager should be instructed to not hover over employee desks when the employee is completing the extremely impersonal online questionnaire on company's performance.
