    Pros

Located next to several nice restaurants & shops

    Cons

    Poor communication
    Hire/fire mentality
    Extremely low morale
Disgruntled employees refuse to assist new hires and contractors, adding to low morale and high turnover

    Advice to Management

Take management courses, as it is clear that very few managers have ever taken any sort of management class, course or even read a free article about management online.

    Pros

Good salary and benefits. Employer compensates stocks and pensions.

    Cons

Very low efficiency in project management and cross team collaborations. There are many different circles and produce a lots of negative energy.

    Advice to Management

Respect employees rights when allocating resources. Get rid of people who have different ideas may not be a good leadership skill.

    Pros

Great Health benefit, resonable starting salary, flexible working hours and work from home allowed.

    Cons

Promotions and raise depend on politics and oiling. Lots of imbeciles have been promoted to directors and managers positions.

    Advice to Management

    Set aside politics.

    Pros

I honestly can't think of any pros, except that you get a discount on products and services but that is not enough to make we want to work there again!

    Cons

You're paid for 8 hours but expected to work 12! Senior Management is completely out of touch! Promotions and bonuses are based on favoritism and not how well you work!

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to the workers who are in the trenches because they are the ones who know what is actually going on!

    Pros

    - easy to get hired (interviews are pretty dumb)
    - decent salary
    - decent benefits

    Cons

I've worked at 6 other companies before coming to TELUS and this company has the worst form of all kinds of office politics and corporate bureaucracy. Starting from the CEO (being the most incompetent), the company has blown up billions of dollars and failed many many projects (e.g. CRM, and TV). I can't think of any project that they took on that actually completed and became successful. I've seen many good managers/directors got fired because of the politics, and seen HR recruiters promoted to manage a team of engineers. I've seen many disgruntled colleagues who left the company, got better jobs elsewhere and are much happier now. I think TELUS really needs a new CEO and a new direction - if it's managed the same way as it was back in 1980, you know it's not going to be around for very long.

    Advice to Management

    Hopeless

    Pros

good benefits (even though they've been cutting them back), as well as great vacation

    Cons

greedy executives have frozen salaries, promotions. they've even cut our "bonuses"
compensation difference between "top" performer and lowest performer is $226 - pathetic given how much extra work is required to be a "top" performer.
senior leadership has ADHD - can't stick with one thing long enough to see results.

    Advice to Management

Merge with Bell and have Cope take over - senior leadership is terrible

    Pros

For those who like to fit in and security.

    Cons

managers...no leadership training ( other than the token 3 day course)....no technical training.......but they are supposed to lead groups of technicians without a clue about the work being done or how to manage people

    Advice to Management

If you can't put a tactical system in place ( 6 sigma(black belt, brown belt...), military ( private, sergent, warrant officer) etc), then continue to expect your significant ongoing problem of translating strategic plans into actual action.
I could expand on this subject and clarify a great deal, but upper managment is now focused on the American model ( think Starbucks) of sell, sell, sell. They can't be reached until they suffer the same challenges that the American car manufacturers are not facing. They went on a orgy of producing big cars and didn't save and are now beggars for $25 billion to the American taxpayer.
Telus is the same, only on the telecom side. If an Asian telecom ( service oriented like Toyota) came into Canada, they would kick Bell and Telus's butt in no time.

    Pros

    Cons

Telus is run by the accountants. Too much red tape to get anything done in a timely manner.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the red tape. Far too many road blocks when trying to get things done.
