Below market compensation

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at TIBCO Software full-time for more than 3 years

ProsVariety of Technology to work on.
Cafe and company campus is quite nice.

ConsCompensation is way below the market rate and Management is not doing much to retain the quality resources due to these below market compensation.

Upper Management is not keen on addressing/fixing problems which employees are spotting left, right and central.

Technology stack is too wide (variety), but management is not able to generate constant revenue stream out of it, and hence the situation where unpleasant cost-cutting decisions are been pushed to employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementOpen your eyes, act on the feedbacks. It is easy to spot, and fixable (only if you have that mindset)

Do remember that - Engineering is the core for a technology company, and not the sales or support. And so compensate them accordingly. No brainer !!!

Management need training to be great managers

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at TIBCO Software

ProsCulture is like a start-up

ConsNo training provided for anything - you have to figure it out for yourself. Managers do not provide clear directions on what is expected and is a moving target. Hit/Miss. favoritism is alive and kicking here - does not matter what you know; really matters who you know!

Mixed bag. Pockets of strong performers. Lacks leadership at the executive level.

Java Developer (Current Employee)
Palo Alto, CA

I have been working at TIBCO Software full-time for more than 3 years

ProsA good place to work for you if you want to either hide in shadows and collect a paycheck or work hard on your own stuff. Either way, don't except leadership at the manager or executive level.

ConsFocus on quarterly results in sales and getting something out the door in engineering. Misses the big picture.

Advice to Senior ManagementNo point in advice they aren't paying the attention.

A driven company dedicated to bettering the world through first class products.

Briefing Program Manager (Current Employee)
Palo Alto, CA

I have been working at TIBCO Software full-time for more than 3 years

ProsTIBCO has great people to work with. The company's dedication to it's customers is amazing. The technology we provide really does make a difference and it is a pleasure to be part of that.

ConsTIBCO's expectations from its employees to work over holidays, evenings and weekends - to always to be available - can be extremely stressful. Compensation can be below average for certain positions.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay more attention to the needs of your employees. Make the workplace a fun place to be. Be more realistic in the fact that people have lives outside of the office.

Some good, some bad

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at TIBCO Software full-time for more than 8 years

ProsTIBCO has a remarkable concentration of genius. If you thrive on challenges this can be a good place to grow. There is a culture of knowledge sharing, and it is not difficult to get noticed. This is a fast-paced environment and a good place to learn from others and share your own expertise.

ConsIf you are not very self-directed, TIBCO may not be a fit for you. All managers are expected to do a lot more than manage, and some find no time to do any management at all. Some roles are particularly demanding, so work-life balance is not always achievable. With its many acquisitions over the years TIBCO has evolved from being a focused company to one with a diverse offering that is often fragmented where the pieces may not easily integrate. This is reflected both in the product mix as well as in the organizational structure where siloes have sprung up.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet back to basics. Stop acquiring and figure out how you can better integrate existing offerings and reduce feature overlap between products. Employees and customers are dizzy. For a company so focused on its bottom line (and TIBCO *is*), a lot of costs and duplication of effort can be achieved by removing siloes and providing better integration of product features.
