Worst job EVER!!

Coordinator (Current Employee)
South Lake Tahoe, CA

I have been working at TJ Maxx full-time for more than a year

ProsI met a lot of cool people. UPPER MANAGEMENT EXCLUDED! I only gave them a star because it was required. They don't deserve even a thought of a quarter star.

ConsThe managers want you to do their job so they just sit around. Out of the three managers the merch manager was the only one with ethics. The other two were just straight up Hippocrates! They tell you to do something when they don't do it themselves. It is kind of a relief I don't work there anymore. I don't hate my life anymore.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet someone who actually knows what they are doing and put them in charge. When you have people that can't even string a sentence together, you are going to have a problem. Oh and don't be Hippocratic, that annoys your workers.

Sucks

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at TJ Maxx

ProsOther associates are the only reason i work there. I love the clothes.

Consthis is the most disorganized Run place there's no consistency. The main store managers most awful woman I've ever met she's constantly yelling at people berating them making you feel belittled. if you do something right its not appreciated or noticed if you do something wrong they definitely notice. Those stupid credit cards...

Advice to Senior Managementif you want great sales then you have to hire great associates if you want great associate you're going to have to treat them better and have more respect for them. There needs to be better management and more consistency in the store.

Seemed nice at first, then it was awful

Cashier/Sales Associate (Current Employee)

I have been working at TJ Maxx part-time for more than a year

ProsEasy first job, the pay for being my first job was excellent (8.25/hr for a 16 year old with no bills)

ConsExtremely irresponsible managers, managers who think that they know what they are doing when they don't at all, disrespectful managers...and of course extremely rude customers. I'm about to quit once I find a new job.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou guys need to understand that just because I'm a sales associate, does not mean that I don't need to be treated with respect. I put in my new availability and you schedule me for completely different times claiming that I never put it in...that is disrespectful. I'm not going to lie to you, so you shouldn't lie to me.

Good Store, Good Customers, Bad Manager

Associate (Former Employee)
Lagrange, GA

I worked at TJ Maxx part-time for less than a year

ProsGood clothes. Worked with my schedule as I had 2 jobs. One good manager, great other associates. I really liked the people I worked with. Funny and smart, made the time pass fast. I was good hanging up stuff and unloading the truck but hated the fitting room. Boring. The older white lady that works in jewelry was cool and she helped me a lot when I did have to work fitting room. She was Audra I think. All the other managers in the areas I worked were real nice and taught me aloot except the main manager.

ConsI couldn't juggle 2 jobs. 1 black manager awful to white employees but I am black. Low pay. Gossip in the office and no communication. Manager was so rude and I heard her yell at the white associates over and over until I had to tell them how bad it made me feel for them. I have had lots of p/t jobs but never one where there was a manager that was so racist aginst whites. I have been in their shoes and it's awful to get so upset you gotts cry. I had that at another job. Glad to be gone.

Advice to Senior Managementya'll got a problem in that place and it's bad

Manager

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at TJ Maxx

ProsWorst Company I Ever worked for !! I have 30 years experience! Both Retail and Corporate!

ConsDistrict Manager needs to understand Integrity! Practice what she Preaches ! Handle Issues on timely manner! Oh yeah write people up for favorites when she plays favorites and her entire Team knows it! Protects the ones she likes ! And destroys the ones she doesn't have a history or connection with! Integrity is not about making your DM look good and yourself when it's a lie! But these people have to live with themselves Everyday! They work for this company because they can't work for the bigger companies they would never make it!

Advice to Senior ManagementToo many years in a company is not always a good thing! Upper Management at Corporate believes everything a district manager says and it is not always the Truth ... Especially when things are not handled on timely manner! Once again it's called INTEGRITY for everyone! Something they preach but they do not Follow! Worst place Ever to work for!
