Rough at the company right now...

    Product Engineer (Former Employee)

ProsGood place to work to learn how to develop global communication skills and manage overseas suppliers.

ConsRecent downgrade in employee benefits has caused an exodus of employees over the past few years.
Employee compensation (base salaries) could be better. Communication problems within the organization.

From family owned & oriented to employees are a commodity

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe long time employees remember when it was locally owned.

ConsLeadership views long term employees as easily dismissed. This observation comes from seeing 20-40 year veteran engineers that cared deeply about the company & products being walked out like untrustworthy criminals.

Top Management Lost in Their Own Agenda ($)

    Senior Staff (Current Employee)
    Detroit, MI

ProsCompany has great employees and great unlocked potential. Highly skilled workforce. The working staff just need a better working working environment.

ConsTop management watches numbers and does not think that employees are a resource. No trust of employees to do the right thing, Lots of checks and balances that are insulting to the professionals that work for TRW. It used to be a great place to work. Stock price is up but not sustainable.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit, move on, take your spoils and move on. Let the company prosper with proper non bean counting management. The CEO and top staff is over compensated taking value from share holders and employees.

ConsManagement in the front office and uncooperative union rep.

A good company that has lost track of it's greatest assets.....People!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood salary and benefits. Non-management staff knowledgeable and great to work with.

ConsDirector level micromanagement and lack of respect for the working salaried class. Our way or the highway attitude and does not want feedback on how to improve things. Complete lack of understanding of the amount of resources needed to complete the job properly.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire staff to allow people to succeed not just get by. Quality of life for workers needs to be considered rather than just Shareholder and CEO returns.

    The Blame Game

    Customer Quality Engineer (Former Employee)
    Marshall, IL

ProsMost people are friendly, when it's time to go home you go home, little to no travel required, low turnover rate of employees.

ConsEveryone plays the blame game and doesn't take responsibility for anything. No clear guidelines of who is responsible for which activities. Every-changing management at headquarters makes it difficult for manufacturing to respond accordingly. Minimal perks.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey need to have a better work environment so that program managers have a lower turnover rate. Manufacturing gets frustrated with the non-communication. Also implementing tracking services require everyone's input- there was no stakeholder management and the RMA software they want to implement is not going to be used accurately for a long time.

    Principal Engineer (Current Employee)
    Livonia, MI

ProsGood place to start a career

Conswage increases below inflationary levels for almost a decade resulting in low morale among employees

Advice to Senior ManagementYour success is because of the people who work here. It is time to recognize that..

    Depressing work environment

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Farmington Hills, MI

ProsLarge company. Interesting projects. Managers are nice.

ConsMore than half the engineers are foreign contractors. Office is a windowless warehouse with dimmed lights and moldy cubicles. Everything is so gray and depressing. Maybe I have been spoiled by other companies but I am really glad I got out of this company. Poor compensation.
