Great opportunity to work abroad, interesting work, with a good work/life balance

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (France)

I worked at TUI Travel

Pros* Great work/life balance
* Fast entry-level career advancement
* Generally good benefits and perks
* Travel

Cons* Expected to work long hours with little reward
* Difficult to move horizontally to different departments or to senior positions
* Many divisions not aligned
* High staff turnover

Advice to Senior ManagementThe constant cost-cutting but increasing KPI targets is extremely taxing and demotivating.

TUI

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at TUI Travel

ProsOpportunity for world travel with access to a variety of roles at mid management level. Friendly work environment and hard working overseas staff.

ConsLong hours with very little chance of upper management promotion. UK departments and UK office procedures not as innovative or hard working as overseas staff.

Advice to Senior ManagementTui needs to be more flexible in today's travel market and not try to fit all sectors of the company into a 'Thomson Holidays' box - There is more to TUI than Thomson!

A complete overhaul of senior management+area managers to ensure fairness in the workplace .

Travel Adviser (Current Employee)
London, England (UK)

I have been working at TUI Travel

ProsOpportunities to work overseas and meet like minded colleagues and be part of a large organisation.

ConsPromotions overseas which are not advertised and "kept under wraps" are given to "friends", favouritism within the group, lack of information from management towards members of staff, general lack of "duty of care" towards staff wellbeing.

Advice to Senior ManagementRegularly ensure that senior resort staff are moved to other destinations to avoid complacency in the workplace. A better "vetting" process of senior management on a regular basis would not go amiss! A clampdown on managers and senior management expenses would be revealing!
