    Partnerships are across the entire center to make things happen
    Always looking for ways to reward & keep atmosphere welcoming

    Due to nature of business, challenging to have people come together as groups

    Pros

    * Exciting work environment, company doing well in tough retail climate
    * New senior leadership has been very effective
    * Career advancement opportunities

    Cons

    * Suburban office: 35+ min commute from Boston
    * Health benefits not great
    * Vacation days/Sick day system - not as much acceptance of PTO scheduling and personal/Sick days are skewed towards employees who have children.
    *Difficult line of communication between NYC office and Hingham office

    Advice to Management

    * As company continues to be successful and implement best practices, empower lower levels of leadership to take on decision making.
    * Continue to bridge the gap between employees who have worked at Talbots for 20+ years and everyone else.

    I have been working at Talbots

    Pros

    Staff
    Some of the clothing
    Location
    Clean store
    events

    Cons

    Client Specialist Program. You are asked to do more ie. reach out to customers via notes, email, phone calls, special appointments, client book, yet there is NOT raise in pay. Instead, you can accumulate points that you can then redeem on a special website for items like trips, household items, music/dvds, etc. Nice thought, but those are things I do not NEED. I would rather get a raise for doing Full-time work on part-time hours. Also, a lot of pressure to sign up customers for the store credit card. That is the bottom line and it makes being there too stressful for a low-paying part-time job.

    Pros

    People. Inspiring/educated Senior Leadership. Visibility. Managing in the gray. Ability to be creative. Bonus structure. Reward program for associates.

    Cons

    Retail life...It's demanding but rewarding.

    Advice to Management

    Must like to lead and manage in the gray. You own the business unit- able to create the team and structure you want in the building. Must be able to read P&L and be profitable through sell cost
