    I worked at Talbots

    Pros

employee discount, up to date technology

    Cons

No respect from corporate partners, treat you like dirt. No appreciation for hard work and dedication. Nothing you do is good enough. They preach "hug your customer" which is easy and gratifying but your superiors step on you!

    Pros

The only pro is your lunch break and you better leave the store or the manager will bug you. There really is nothing I like about this store.

    Cons

Very demanding customer. They really think you care about their boring life. I would win an Oscar with my fake performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

District managers should surprise visit the store once on a while.

    Pros

The only pro will be when your shift ends. And the day you find a new job. Possibly a co worker or two.

    Cons

Terrible DM. Will not promote from within. Horrible working conditions long hours on your feet.customers are complete slobs. Disgusting detached client base.

I have been working at Talbots part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

This location is a short commute for me. I love to sell and enjoy most of the customers and the part-time staff.

    Cons

No room for advancement, no reward system, extremely physical labor, mind numbing duties. Management structure ensures no creativity and product is sometimes hard to sell. Hourly rate of pay creates more below poverty level jobs. Management does not care at all about employee turn over.

I have been working at Talbots part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

No personal growth in this company.

    Cons

Not knowing if the Company will be solvent from month to month.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to learn how to treat your associates with respect. You can't bully and expect your associates to respect upper management with management skills from the 70's and 80's. Don't lie to them on programs that are not attainable which only puts money in upper managements pockets and none in the pockets of the deaerving sales associates.

I have been working at Talbots full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    excellent pay for my level
    great co-workers

    Cons

company wants to appeal to every age so styles become old & predictable season after season
every time I have scheduled days/vacation off my DM would come up with some reason to cancel it-I was always giving up my time only for it to go unappreciated!
DM wants only her ideas-doesn't listen to anyone who doesn't agree with her.
producing results is not rewarded-individual thinking is stifled
payroll should be based on results not given to the highly visible stores first

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to your associates in the trenches more and don't rely solely on the DMs word
