    Pros

    I had a good team to work with me. The clients were fun to help and would jump in on our shenanigans from time to time. merchandizing and training were always a priority. Great discount!

    Cons

    Productivity program. It is fine to set expectations but to keep changing on what was expected and then terming employees for not achieving them was not fair. The expectations changed three different times in a two year time frame and then there was always exception months. Not a clear program. Payroll restraints was another issue as in any business but running a two door store on the weekend on 2-2-2 coverage is impossible if you are expecting the high standards of Customer service at Talbot's. You can't be the greeter,Runner,fashion stylist,cashier,stock person and give each and every customer the attention they need or deserve on this kind of man power.

    Upper management I know has set new program in 2014 place for payroll and scheduling.

    Pros

    we have a lot of passion in our building for one another, a client base as well as our product.
    the merchant group has been improving. the product is more modern in feel and speaks to a more wide demographic.
    the company is being run in a much more profitable manner than in the past.

    Cons

    nominal work /life balance .
    catalog representatives are outsourced and don't always reflect the brand in the best light

    Great leadership and my team was fantastic. The work atmosphere was calm, organized, and friendly.

    Hours weren't always that consistent, but it was fairly consistent for retail and very flexible.

    Great company. Increasing opportunities for advancement and more consistency in incentives and hours would be ideal.

    Pros

    Pay is decent compared to other retail clothing stores.
    Very good work life balance, at times the store only wants sales associates for one shift per week (which can become a con...) My manager really respects our availability, if we ask off ahead of time she does everything she can to give us the schedules we need.
    Good discount on clothes.

    Cons

    NO, I repeat, NO raises. Ever. For me (a sales associate) or my key holder, or the managers.
    Constantly pushing sales, getting more credit cards, selling as many items to one customer as possible - sometimes it really isn't fun, but rather stressful.

    Why don't we ever get raises? New sales associates get the same pay as associates that have been there for years and years ...

    Pros

    Small store so it was very easy pace. My team is like family. Good quality products.fantastic discount

    Cons

    Pay was to low for me to stay on
    We never had enough product
    Communication was choppy. Very inconsistent from corp.
    ASMs arenot treated the same as Co Managers. This is a mistake.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    As a member of managment I would have liked a better compensation rate for my position. I had come from a retail back ground with high vol stores, but this store only had ASM positions. I could have contributed more outside our 4 walls. Plus after benefits were taken off my pay my check was to small to survive on. Can't keep quality workers that way.
    Payrol system of $ base hous not productive vs non productive is not good. Hard to work with effectivly.
