I worked at Talisman Energy as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Talisman pays quiet well, and provide the internship opportunities to the undergraduate and postgraduate. The have the material to study and always welcome us to learn a new things. The policy to nurture the new young graduate is absolutely astonishing. Good environment.

    Cons

The software use here is behind the current flow, as when the year is 2012, we still using software from 2010 even 2009. Even they hired interns for the time, the reluctant to hire a new fresh young graduates, and eager to take senior position only. Even the scholarship holder have a difficult time to be hired by them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talisman should gives opportunities to young graduate, as this company is now one of the major build of oil and gas in several region. Should be a good example so we will not lack in skills expertise in the future.

I have been working at Talisman Energy full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Professionalism, global teams are helpful and welcoming. Exposure to very remote operations, with real challenges, and grateful people. Technology is very much an enabler, and not something that is ever forgotten about.

    Cons

None - I'd work there again!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allowing the global network team leads to travel to remote office is a real boost to productivity and really helps the more remote teams feel more engaged.

I have been working at Talisman Energy

    Pros

    - Flexible
    - Good mgmt support to implement your ideas (back it up with facts and stats)
    - Always trying to improve
    - Dynamic, fast pace
    - Great people

    Cons

    - Silos
    - Too many people involved in decision making
    - Growing too fast hence constant change to accomodate the environment (I don't mind but this is not for everyone)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - keep focusing on execution
    - before trying to be world class let's work on the basics
    - process improvement is key (I think the appetite is there) but too much initiatives at the same time get people away from what's important - let's take baby steps
    - keep communicating the goals and vision of the company
