    Pros

The team members make the difference in how hard or easy the job is. The motto " speed is life" is no joke, you are practically running from the time you clock in until you clock out.

    Cons

The pay is pretty good, but the raises are almost nonexistent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask team members if they would like to work in different areas of the store, instead of hiring outside of the company promote from within.

    Pros

Team work is the best part about the job. Flexibility with the schedule is great. Balanced workplace.

    Cons

Hours can drop out of nowhere
Depending on how big the store is, it can get busy with customers and picking up items laying around everywhere.
Not all team leaders are good some are lazy and some just walk around the store doing nothing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Team Leaders should try to put more effort into to helping every part of the store. Checking lanes, guest service, backroom, hard and soft lines, and definitely the strays.

    Pros

The employee discount was a great benefit and the ability to pick up shifts. Great locations, they focus on growth and are there to help you.

    Cons

The interaction with needy customers. The rigorous work that they demand. Work late into night to get the store in shape for the next day.

    Pros

"It is a good stepping stone if your looking for a first time job. They hire young people and try to give you reasonable hours. They will work with your school schedule. They offer great benefits (ex. tuition reimbursement, 401k, vacation and personal pay, etc).

    Cons

Upper management felt they had all the answers and could sometimes be very petty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust and back your leaders to make decisions for the good of the business. And make it easier to promote within vs. promoting someone straight out of college.

Former Employee - Guest Service Team Member  in  Lakeland, FL
Former Employee - Guest Service Team Member in Lakeland, FL

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, LOA for Education, store discount, retail experience

    Cons

Poor management chain, slow advancement if you come in at lowest levels, REDcard promotion needs improvement, poor training, low pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop bullying team members and guests with REDcard's, the REDcard is a neat product that should sell itself. Give better training and involve the front-end team members with the entire store. For most guests, the front-end is the only contact that guest will have with a Target team member, ensure that those team members are properly trained and able to bring the highest quality experience to the Guest. Also, if Target wants to have the best team members they need to provide better pay and benefits.

Current Employee - Entertainment Specialist in Tampa, FL

    Pros

If they like you, you will fit in well. You will get all the hours you want, you name it.

    Cons

Target is slowly changing their rules. You pretty much get paid the same, your department will get less and less hours, and you will have to work a larger area all in the same amount of time and be expected to get it all done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be elitist. Work WITH your team. Be personal and friendly. Get to know them.
