Not what I expected. Started out in the role I wanted but was moved five weeks in to an unwanted role.

I have been working at Target full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good rate of pay. Overnight bonuses. Great company as far as reach. Locations abound everywhere. Overnight works four days as opposed to five.

    Cons

Need to work a minimum of fifty-two hours a week. Lots of pressure to perform. Training can be good or bad depending on the trainer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick to the script. Do not tell me one thing and then change it five weeks later.

I have been working at Target part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Better pay than most big box retailers and usually will accommodate for flexible scheduling.

    Cons

Terrible management team, usually with leave their promises unfulfilled and expect too much for too little pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't hire people based on whether they have a degree or not. It should be solely based whether they have experience within the field they are apply for. If not, at least don't hire these inexperienced people for management positions.

    I worked at Target

    Pros

The stores are nice as far as retail.
Company and co workers are mostly nice.

    Cons

Retail schedule...not a set schedule never same days off etc
    Pay is low
Some days/nights can be very tiresome

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote within your store....not just pulling people from other stores

I have been working at Target part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Nice co workers. Things are pretty easy to learn.

    Cons

Rude customers. Executive managers want everything from you but you get nothing in return. They rather bring people in from other stores than promote people.

Target is a great place to start your management career out of college, but I wouldn't make it a long-term plan.

I have been working at Target full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Team work atmosphere (all my peers and I work very well as a team), Pay (great starting salary out of college and increased salary though pay grade promotions twice within three years), Benefits (generally pretty good health benefits, tuition reimbursement program, etc.), Promotional opportunities (if you are willing to work hard to produce "green" results, there is a lot of room for advancement)

    Cons

Hours (Rotating weekends and closing shifts, which can make it hard to have work/life balance), Constant change in leadership (store, group, and regional leaders), Desperate attempts to increase sales, Low pay for hourly employees which leads to high turnover and extra stress for managers, Payroll allocation (minimal payroll hours means less employees on the sales floor to help guests and complete tasks), Logistics process (it seems like every store I know struggles with the logistics process, yet the company turns a blind eye to the issue)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Pay your hourly workers more. It is ridiculous the expectations Target has for minimum wage employees. If you expect the best, compensate your employees with a reasonable amount.
    - Stop cutting resources at the store level. I've seen managers and hourly employees take more and more shortcuts to get the workload done over the years. It negatively affects overall store morale and disguises the level of operations a store truly has.
-Find a way to retain talent and to gain a better reputation as a great place to work. Stop blaming the store leadership for silly things like not giving enough recognition and not planning enough FFF events as the reason for turnover. Everyone knows that's not the cause to the horrible retention at Target.

I have been working at Target part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    10 percent discount
    Flexible scheduling
    Free food

    Cons

    NO benefits
Lack of leadership in the management team that causes a lot of frustration on both parties

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would suggest they worry about the customer or guest and stop hounding them about the red cards

    Pros

Hours are awesome, 401 k is an advantage, experience and training will allow you to advance personally and professionally

    Cons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Target is an awesome company and an awesome place to shop but if you do not treat your team with respect then your team cannot cater to your to the guests with a smile
