Company where you can only grow if your manager wants it, not because you are talented.

    IT Analyst (Current Employee)

Pros1. Got onsite opportunity to work with an international client.

ConsVery poor hikes. If your performance reviews are bad, they actually decrease your salary after 1 year.

Difficult for Americans to move into senior roles

    Sales (Current Employee) Dallas, TX

ProsTCS has good brand recognition worldwide.

ConsThe massive size of the company, coupled with the overwhelming adherence to its India-centric standards, make working here challenging if you are not from India.

Advice to Senior ManagementA global company needs to set the standard for diversity especially with respect to national origin and gender. Otherwise, TCS will remain an Indian company with satellites.

Great exposure for fresh recruits but poor for experienced associates

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat exposure if your lucky enough to be assigned to a challenging project

ConsRidiculously bad middle management - Myopic. Only the bottom line matters. Do not take care of their employees. Most management lack exposure and soft skills.

Advice to Senior ManagementBack you team members with clients when it matters.

    Great Starter Company..if your lucky!

Software Engineer (Current Employee) Cincinnati, OH

ProsGreat and fair salary for each region you work in.

ConsThe way this company works is one of the following 3:

    1) You sit in the office and rarely get acknowledged let alone get work to do. 2) You are over worked (where your expected to work weekends) even though members of your team have nothing to work on, or 3) you have three to four hours of work in an eight hour work day.

Options 1 and 2 happen more often. I have been with the company for a good amount of time and in that time I may have had work for a solid month. The rest of the time its all about self-learning or doing what you enjoy to pass the time.

Advice to Senior ManagementI know you need to meet employee quotas and therefore hire more people then you need, but please try and find work for everyone in your company.

Onsite transfer job is not a good oportunity has they promise

Software Quality Assurance Engineer (Current Employee) Dallas, TX

ProsNever will worry about having a job, unless you really mess up.
Wont bother you frequently as long as you have your client happy and are on a busy project.

ConsLocal salary is good, but when offer a Onsite transfers, they pay you an Entry Level salary, no matter your experience or you moving with your family.
You need to pay for your Health Insurance and Dental Plan, not when they promised to cover that.
They did not cover for the travel tickets for my family travel to US. I had to do it out-of-pocket.
Always get bother about doing courser to comply with client.
Always gets bothered about providing project information that people could get, and let you focus on your project tasks.
There is no local contact with managers or HR, all are remote.
Support is handle by Offshore, so if you send an email, expect to get reply the next day, and maybe you wil get your issue resolve after a week, as a minimum.

    Good place for mediocre

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsGood place to start career.
    Many onsite projects.
    Flexible timing.

    ConsVery poor appraisal policy.
No or Little value for talents, Management is often biased or short-sighted while evaluating their subordinates.
Even the mediocre employees get onsite ahead of the more talented individuals.
Compensation and benefits are very poor.
95% of projects are maintenance projects, having boring jobs, suitable for mediocre people.
Not a good place to work for talented creative and innovative minds.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake the appraisal policy more transparent and fair to retain the best brains. Try to get more quality work and development projects instead of maintenance projects.
