I worked at Teach for America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great to give back to the community. Great to be a part of a national movement for change. TFA really helps prepare you for the classroom. The teamwork and focus on a single goal (e.g. improving schools) helps ease the learning curve in terms of becoming a teacher.

    Cons

Long hours and lots of handwork and limited resources. Creativity is key.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Teach for America as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

-helpful, cheerful mentors who help you learn more about the company culture
-solid events such as school visits that give you a better sense of what TFA's about
-great office atmosphere; not a typical cubicle office setting

    Cons

-sometimes the work given isn't the most exciting nor thought stimulating (but that is kind of what I expected as an intern)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-keep doing you, you're doing great.
-maybe try to get the other interns to collaborate together more than have them do completely separate projects

I have been working at Teach for America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I learned a lot about myself and developed as a professional. It was great to be in the city and network. If you're a teacher, it's a great place to start. If you didn't inted to be a teacher, it is still an AMAZING experience.

    Cons

Some people are a bit over-the-top. Training can be underwhelming in certain aspects, but it is continually improving.
