I have been working at Tech Data full-time

    Pros

Tech Data has competive salaries, flexible schedules, learning tools, tuition reimbursement and a young culture within a very well established 40 yr old business.

    Cons

A new system conversion has left some of the older employees at a disadvantage

I have been working at Tech Data

    Pros

Pros: Great people to work with. Work/life balance is good if you're not in management.

    Cons

Cons: Doesn't pay the highest salaries compared to similar positions elsewhere. Changes can be slow to be made.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop having meetings for the sake of having meetings. Be thoughtful of employees time.

I worked at Tech Data part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The culture makes Tech Data a great place to work. We could wear business causal clothing Monday-Thurs and Friday we could even wear jerseys. Great people work here and seemed to me most were happy working for Tech Data.

    Cons

My only con would be the cafeteria prices were a bit ridiculous, other than that great company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nothing, my managers and supervisors were awesome!

I have been working at Tech Data full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Positive work environment, people are nice to work with and managers are good to work for with good lines of communication between employee and manager. Work is not difficult in my department and is very rewarding. Work schedule is very accommodating and flexible.

    Cons

Some interdepartmental finger-pointing and at times a manager may try to blame an employee for an oversight the manager should also have noticed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep your employees happy and they will have every reason to stay and be productive.

I worked at Tech Data full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits are good, and the people are great, but a lot of things changed when SAP went in. People became what seemed like bitter and angry at each other. Probably frustration.

    Cons

Politics, Odd Org Charts and Structure

I have been working at Tech Data full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits, even for part time! Varies tremendously by department. Sales, for instance, provides a lot of opportunities, and Customer Care really has your back and your career.

    Cons

Large corporation mean endless red-tape. Things move slowly in large corporations, politics abound. Most else will vary by department. Purchasing offers little room for growth, for instance; and does not compensate fairly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Interdepartmental training would really be great to get people outside their little bubbles to be part of the whole company.

    Pros

    Opportunities, visibility to upper management

    Cons

Distribution of work seems unbalanced, but that's probably the case everywhere

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize the people who are always doing the work and not always talking about the work

    Pros

Growth, Stable, Opportunities, Connections, Great perks

    Cons

compensation, corporate policy, politics, hours, professionalism

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay better attention to who you says things to...Some information should remain in HR. Too much mingling occurs between work and personal lives. THe industry seems to be very small and word travels quickly.

I worked at Tech Data full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

What a great ride it was being part of this organization during 20+ years of growth and change.

    Cons

While its nice to promote from within, a sprinkling of professionally trained managers would improve consistency of performance across the departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tech Data is dependent on vendor marketing funds. Wasteful spending could be curbed.
