I have been working at Teck Cominco full-time

    Pros

Excellent benefits, lots of challenging work. Great people to work with. Excellent pay

    Cons

Hard to recruit people at Red Dog; leave positions vacant for too long. Vancouver comes up with great ideas but expects the individual properties to implement with no extra resources or support. Carre advancement is vaporware

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't allow people to work in corporate functions that have no experience in mining many things are done to make folks in Vancouver happy. Yet Teck does not have in operations in Vancouver

I worked at Teck Cominco full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits and chance to contribute to the community by donation match.

    Cons

The industry is cyclic. When the price of the commodity is down, cutting happens. The toronto office has very limited career potential. most activity is at head office in Vancouver.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More work-life balance.

I have been working at Teck Cominco full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Amazing people, very young work force so lots of energy.

    Cons

Some locations could focus more on employee development

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of just providing lip service encourage employees to take education/projects in their interests
