    Lots of responsibilities

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Beaverton, OR

ProsSmall teams, smart people to work with. Large corporation benefits. Great tools to work with. Starbucks is on campus. Management listens to and takes care of employees. Some people have been here for over 30 years. Because teams are so small, it's easy to find challenges and not be pigeon-holed like other big companies that may start with an i.

ConsNo stock options, large corporation (Danaher Corp). Not as nimble. Cafeteria could be deleted and it would taste better. The company is located in Beaverton, and it could be deleted too and Oregon would be nicer.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Rookie on an aging ball club

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Beaverton, OR

ProsThe pay is good, and the benefits are average. Co-workers are really nice, but a majority of the personnel are aging, however this gives room for upward mobility as people retire from long held positions

ConsThe staff are mostly set in their ways and with a recent buyout by Danaher there is plenty of good old days syndrome to go around.

Advice to Senior ManagementStart bringing in new blood, stop hiring so many temporary employees. The company was obviously built on home grown talent and it is time to start that process again.

Good place to work with a solid reputation in the industry.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsTektronix is a solid company with a very strong brand recognition in the test and measurement industry. Our customers trust that a Tektronix product will perform as specified and we stand behind it.

ConsAll companies have their share of issues, however none at Tektronix stand out worse than any other public company. My biggest negative would be the relentless pursuit to squeeze expenses to satisfy shareholders....that's status quo for any public company these days!

Advice to Senior ManagementExecute on the R&D investments so we can overtake the competitors. Don't try to keep the same platforms for more than 7 years because the competition will take market share.

ConsNo design center, marketing designs products, no customer feedback loop. Some RIP

Most of the time I spent at Tek was enjoyable, challenging environment, great people.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Beaverton, OR

    Pros- Great set of people
    - Challenging problems
    - People eager to help out others
    - Flexible work conditions
    - Good practices brought in b y Danaher

Cons- Innovation is somewhat stifled after the Danaher acquisition
    - Lack of recognition for managers and above
    - Seems to be all about turning the crank these days

Advice to Senior ManagementAllow innovation to run it's course, bring back some of the spirit of Tektronix. Recognize good people for the contributions they make. Create a less political environment.

Okay company, used to be a great company

Senior Hardware Design Engineer (Former Employee)
    Beaverton, OR

ProsIt is nice to be surrounded by talented, knowledgeable individuals.
You get to work with advanced technology, great test equipment.
You get to develop state-of-the-art products.

ConsMost employees are constantly concerned about job security due to continuous down-sizing.
Corporate management is constantly changing, and changing the company organization and project leadership.

Advice to Senior ManagementQuit trying to turn a high-tech, quality company that produces the best products in the world into just another revenue generating, mediocre company producing me-too, ticky-tacky products that are "just as good as the competition".
