It's ok to work for extra money

    Customer Service Representative (Former Employee)
    Citronelle, AL

ProsIt is an at home position was the only pro about this job.

ConsNot much room for growth, back to back calls, and an 8 min average call handling time to try to stay under,
the pay sucked, no benefits, and not full-time opportunities

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter training to prepare rookies for what really is to come once they start answering the phone

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Great stepping stone choice to get your career started.

    Customer Service Representative (Current Employee)
    Springfield, MO

ProsTeleTech offers paid bonus in addition with paid training at competitive rates

Great place to earn experience and build résumé.

Also great plans with large pool insurance health, dental, eyesight. With a knowledgeable staff to help guide you into what best fits your life situation.

TeleTech is a 3rd party customer service center that compartmentalizations specialty service to better tailor to customer needs and questions.

ConsThe amount of training is approximately 30 days; depending on which department you are trained for will make a difference, however most training covers only very basic situations in an environment that has complex situations. Most experience one gets will be learning it by trial and error.

Pay is great for starting, but is capped as it is 3rd party. Great experience builder but not a lot of room for moving up.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe most basic potential issue is that longevity at TeleTech is essentially discouraged. Early sign on bonuses and insurance coverage kick in almost immediately. However seasoned workers are hard to come by as their limits are quickly capped.

Instead of focusing high bonuses for newer recruits, it should be applied towards seasoned employees to match skill level and tenure.

ProsThe other employees are very nice to work with. The job function is work I am interested in. They scheduling in my department is flexible.

ConsThere is no real advancement opportunities after a certain point in the locations outside of the corporate office. Information regarding what initiatives are happening do not make it from the corporate location to the other sites in a very coordinated manner. Not the best communications.

Incredibly challenging, fast paced, high turnover

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Englewood, CO

ProsGlobal company with a social conscious. Growing, fast paced company provides opportunities to be exposed to a variety of technology. Talented staff. Very good work/life balance, telecommuting is an option depending on your role.

ConsTend to over commit to work and there is a constant drive to completing work on short timelines. Slow to recognize performers making them vulnerable to having staff recruited away.

Advice to Senior ManagementDecide between quality or speed to completion it is impossible to realize both unless you staff correctly.

    It was an okay job.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsWorking at home is a plus and you get paid!

ConsIt's difficult not having a someone to ask a simple question if you need one answered quickly. You have to ask your question in a chat room and wait for it to be answered. While doing all of this you are not supposed to put the customer on hold.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not train so many people at one time, it's annoying!

Teletech at home is a good stepping stone.

    Customer Service Representative (Current Employee)
    Knoxville, TN

ProsWorking from home, fun co-workers. Gives you experience of working from home as a customer service representative.

Consonly getting 8 hrs a week, not enough to live on during slow times. Mandatory shift increases/reductions with short notice. Also, after 2 years I have never once gotten a raise.

Advice to Senior Managementtrain more on material, and less on types of personalities, give back some benefits, and consider giving raises.

I worked there for 3 months.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsNice coworkers. Enthusiastic. Lots of training, Lots of information. They make sure you know the company's history. Nesting period in which experienced and helpful employees help you transition into being on the phones.

ConsI had two trainers. One was super into her job. The other didn't even work in credit cards, where I was supposed to work. He was in debit cards. You spend lots of time training, but I didn't feel like I'd learned anything useful to the point I didn't even finish training. High turn over. Where you sit could change everyday.
