I have been working at Telenav (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some A class people to work with making days easier, have opportunity to learn different things.

    Cons

Upper management team issue and a huge base of slackers or non-English speaking people make communication hard and improvement harder.

I worked at Telenav full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Connected with China office, so can transfer lots of work to there. US office sometimes just *follow up*

    Cons

Manager team is mess up. they don't know what's going on in the next. QA team is useless, they can't find critical bugs, p0 happens after release. They just play the test cases with engineers everyday and waste their time. Some of the QA tell everyone the tiny bugs they found and watch Youtube in the rest of the day. Engineer team is talkative, I never see a company has so many engineer don't have active work everyday. In this company, talking is more important than working. Keep in mind.

    Advice to Management

Figure out how to let people will to work again.

    Pros

    None, no, nada, zilch, absolutely

    Cons

Clueless management at the highest levels, no strategy or clue how to position the company and win. Lots of infighting and politicking at the cost of moving the company forward. Talented people leave everyday. Incompetence is tolerated at the highest levels due to a misplaced sense of loyalty

    Advice to Management

it is time to examine whether you or the rest of the leadership are making the right decisions at the highest levels. If not, it may be time to retire or find someone else from the outside who can lead.

I have been working at Telenav full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are considering a role here, keep looking: Very weak homegrown managers, worst exec team, CEO can't make decisions

    Cons

Lack of focus and strategy. Too many people doing nothing, we have a handful of really hard working people, the rest don't even show up to work

    Advice to Management

Might be time for CEO to find a new hobby and exec staff to retire, please

I have been working at Telenav full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

At this point, can't think of a single one.

    Cons

The culture has a lot of dysfunction with mini fiefdoms. Product Design wants to rule the world working on their own pet projects and building their portfolio. Marketing is now organizationally disconnected from everyone else. Senior leadership keeps changing strategy and it is not very clear where the company is headed. Communication and collaboration are at an all time low. There has been another round of layoffs. Good people are now keeping their heads down. This is sad because the Valley is an awesome place for great talent today.

    Advice to Management

You are putting some functional areas on a pedestal at the cost of other teams. Some teams that get the most visibility and resources are not held to the same goals and metrics as everyone else. They get all the benefits without having to put their necks on the line. The company values were something that the founders and the organization believed in but lately it does not seem like you are being true to your values. The culture has visibly deteriorated over the past year from being collaborative to being very toxic. This tone is being set by your senior leadership in some teams.

I have been working at Telenav full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome space, free food, lots of responsibility

    Cons

Bad hiring decisions (execs and senior leaders) Lack of coherent strategy starting at Exec level Offshore teams Favoritism towards newly hired leaders and execs Consensus driven Loudest voice wins Not egalitarian Just laid off a whole office Conflicting org structures lead teams to compete in a bad way

    Advice to Management

If you hire people, trust them and get out of their way. Stop micro-managing them. Pick a strategy and stay the course - every new social networking and dating concept is not going to win Promote people that deserve it - not the talkers Leaders should not be remotely located. Move them to HQ Hire people instead of overloading existing people Let bad performers go Invest in the right things

    Pros

The technology is solid and works well.

    Cons

Division changed their name 3 types in 8 months from Telenav, Scout to Thinknear. Leadership is weak and lacks experience. Management looking for younger employees so they can pay them less. Recently, let go of top performers so they can find cheaper less experience talent. Management thought sales people were making to much money. So they lowed the commission.

    Advice to Management

HP makes changes before it's to late!

    Pros

    Cons

Scout Advertising Management lacks experience and knowledge on how to run a team. Senior manager has stated he doesn't know how to manage and had the sales team send 100 emails a week. He stated that this Sales metrics process. Whether you are doing your job or not, you should make sure you learn to kiss some butt.

    Advice to Management

H.P- if you are looking to grow the company you have put the wrong management in.
