I have been working at Tenaris full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Challenges, opportunities and training opportunities are excellent. People are friendly and welcome new people from diverse cultures. Multicultural work environment encouraging respect for each other.

    Cons

Promotions are need based rather than work based. Work can be overwhelming most of the time thereby creating work life imbalance. Hard to get into management roles.

I worked at Tenaris full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The Global Trainee Program is nice: a rotation, a month in Argentina, and lots of training. Employees are really sweet and want to see you succeed. Looks good on your resume when applying outside.

    Cons

The pay is abysmal for the amount of hours you'll work. Management thinks that "work-life balance" means using your vacation hours. Most managerial positions are filled with people from Argentina, Mexico, or Italy who can barely speak English. Late day meetings where you'll be verbally berated are common. Once you graduate the GT program your evaluations are based on politics more than what you've done. Zero chance of rotating out of your job without being a director's pet. HR is more focused on appeasing management. Very high turnover, expect someone else's job to be dumped on you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more people with experience. Promote locally instead of just filling positions with expat wives.

I worked at Tenaris full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Great work experience because of new projects and investments
-Pay is right at the middle of the scale
    -Benefits/401K is above average
-Great opportunities: 6 months all expense paid working in Mexico

    Cons

-Lots of OT (not much work/life balance)
-Hierarchy is strictly enforced due to the culture
-Hickman plant is located in a small town, not much to do after work
-Lack of right skills for the job which can cause lower than expected results
-Feel alienated when upper management or co-workers speak spanish in front of you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be able to take advise from subordinates, open up the idea of learning Spanish instead of forcing them, be respectful of work and life balance, need to listen more before giving directions.
