Former Employee – worked at Teradyne full-time
Pros – Friendly people, relaxed dress code Like the emphasis on values
Cons – Mediocre raises. 12 hour workdays expected with no recognition. Work/life balance is not possible. Not much room for advancement. Quick to criticize instead of recognize dedication and hard work. Operations group is fast paced as inventory is a hot area but company should make a point to recognize employee sacrifices and show appreciation.

Current Employee – been working at Teradyne
Pros – Teradyne is an industry leader.
Cons – Every person in the regional office had at least 10 years of employment with Teradyne, with the most senior manager having over 25 years with the company. They did not encourage new ideas and there was only one person who was in charge. This manager was ruled by fear and every activity was a fear based focus.
If you are looking for a place to work, where you feel like your input matters, don't even waste your time.
Advice to Senior Management – Being a manager is about giving employees the tools and support they need to be successful. When an employee cannot do his job because his management is doing half his job already, then it becomes hard to be successful. In this particular office, there was only one person given permission to think, that was the manager, everyone else was just a grunt.
This is an engineering driven, engineering focused company with severely entrenched management. There is only the Teradyne way, no new ideas are accepted openly.

Current Employee – been working at Teradyne
Pros – One on one interactions with specific hardware, software, mechanical engineers. Some wonderful individuals in an overall negative, difficult, dispiriting environment.
Cons – The work environment includes many individuals who put in 100% without acknowledgment or reward. The ingredients to create a strong work environment are present in these people. But the preponderance of managers who have no regard for their employees prevents that.
Advice to Senior Management – Realize that the desire to succeed and to work and live productively and well is something that those who work for you aspire to.

Former Employee – worked at Teradyne
Pros – Cannot think of any, other than tuition reimbursement, but every tech job at a mid to large size company does
Cons – Extremely poor management. No opportunities for advancement. Their approach to research and development of new products is always behind the technology curve. The accountability of issues and problems always falls upon the lowly engineers, managers don't report bad news up, because that is not what the middle/upper managers want to hear.
Advice to Senior Management – cut your numbers in half and actually report reality to management above you. don't kill the little guy who does all the work
