    Pros

I worked for Buckle for four years. I loved my fellow coworkers and I loved getting the opportunity to inspire and encourage people in their walk with fashion. There's something so satisfying about improving the way a person views themselves simply by giving them a little push in the area of their self confidence by providing them with a cute outfit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

On a moral level, I was very disappointed with the man that I worked for. I wouldn't say this is true of all your managers. I've personally met the CEO of Buckle, and his team, and they seem like decent people. Just pay attention to the people you have in management roles in your stores. There's a lot going on behind the scenes.

I have been working at The Buckle full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Entrepreneurial culture. Opportunity for growth. Challenging work environment. Depending on your management, it is a super supportive company. I have met so many amazing people through Buckle, both as guests and co-workers.

    Cons

Sales goals, if you like to sell, this is the place for you. Like everything in the world, what goes up must come down. There are times where meeting your goals become next to impossible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more aware of what really goes on in your stores... not just when you are on your visits.

    Pros

This company is great if you are looking to work in the retail world. They will push and train you to be your absolute best. The great discount doesn't hurt either.

    Cons

You are very much judged on your appearance. Multiple times I have seen coworkers sent home for not wearing makeup or having their hair up in a ponytail. If you are one of those people who makes sure they look their best before leaving the house then this will not be a problem for you.

I worked at The Buckle full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good pay and advancement opportunities as compared to the last two companies I have managed for. Traveling is a must if you want to become a general or district manager. I love to travel. 40% discount on all clothing in store. Positive working environment.

    Cons

Training needs to be implemented at a slower pace. They are so focused on the "sale" and customer loyalty so sometimes you get left on your own. The level of pressure that is put on employees can be stressful. Raises or rewards should be given to top/model employees, and they are not unless you are in management. Highly competitive with their competition, which forces the employees to be aggressive with pushing product. The last sentence can be a pro as well, because some individuals need a nudge to find out what they are really capable of.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More feedback would be helpful. The head and district manager travel often so it is hard to know where you stand. Would be nice if management made it more clear to lower level employees that the sale is not all that matters. Obviously if your not a people person and hard seller you won't last in a "sales associate" position. Try moving employees around to different positions if they seem uncomfortable or out of their element, and then once comfortable with the company and how it is ran talk about advancement.

I worked at The Buckle full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great opportunities within the company for entrepreneurial growth! Company provides some of the best leadership experience in management training and team development! Great benefits and enjoyed my time with the company! Put in a lot of work and get great rewards at the end of the year!

    Cons

Difficult to establish a work/life balance through company demands! Company changes take away from manager individuality and personal growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More information available to managers when deciding where to start their career in an area. Accountability should be across the board for all managers and team instead of a likability scale.

    Pros

They offer good clothes and the people are nice.

    Cons

They don't train you enough, they make you work under minimum wage off commissions, you have to push sales, and you have to push credit cards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't make people push credit cards if it is against their ethic.
