I worked at The Buckle (Less than a year)

    Pros

Commission based so if you work hard there are big bucks to be made. Also good for people with bubbly personalities.

    Cons

Sometimes the management can be a lot to deal with. Push you to sell sell sell even when customers might be annoyed by this

    Pros

You get to be yourself and make a lot of great connections with everyone in your immediate community. Valuable sales and technique training, by far one of the best I have seen.

    Cons

Every location has a slightly different way of handling things. All along the same guidelines, but depending on the manager, you could be forced to shove product down customers throats.

    Advice to Management

Let your team be themselves. That is what sells.

    Pros

Opportunity to make good money, flexible hours, ability to move up in the company, meeting new people

    Cons

Can be stressful when the store is slow because you're not making money, no guaranteed paycheck, expected to push product onto guests who don't want it, other teammates can be too pushy and take guests from you, forced to call people and your own friends and family in to shop every day. Stressful work nights til 1 a.m. happen two days before a store visit from dm, long hours with a short break frequently happen during busy season or when preparing for visits, leader meetings every Monday morning which is a waste of gas if you don't work until later in the day.

    Advice to Management

Recognize toxic members of your team, one person can bring down the entire group and you refuse to see that. Don't expect your team to work 11 a.m. Til 1 a.m. With a 30 minute break, especially when they are due back at work at 8:15 for the leader meeting.

    Pros

The Buckle taught me a lot for being my first job. It really helped me to be able to start conversation with strangers and how to give great customer service. Overall it was a great job to have through college.

    Cons

Although they do give a nice discount (40%), they do not allow the employees to share that with anyone else AT ALL. I didn't feel that appreciated as an employee.

    Advice to Management

Have 2 days a year where employees can purchase things for friends and family using their discount.

    Pros

The Buckle offers lot of opportunity for growth! Growth personally and inside the company. Everyone is always supportive and trying to get you to that next level. Full time employees also receive benefits!

    Cons

Even as a rockstar sales person slow days can kill your pay check! Working on commission can be great and especially during the holiday season but on slow days you can make a little as 5/hr.

    Advice to Management

I've had good managers and bad managers. Advice to bad managers if your store isn't doing as well as you would like or as it should you should check your management style.
